Devin Thomas on track to start opposite Santana Moss

Redskins Insider - Devin Thomas Seems to Be Close to Z Role

I've been waiting for this since he was drafted. Proud of the guy. Well deserved.

I'm not sure if it's deserved because he's having a good off season. How do you win a job in mini camp/OTA's and a coule days of camp?? But I'm very glad Thomas is taking his job serious and it looks like he's going to have a break out year. I remember watching a few Mich State games and he was very explosive.

Sunday on a couple of successive drills DT came off the field and was met by Zorn with a high 5. I saw that and went hmm, especially since he didn't catch the pass. Right after that Hixon came over and talked to him, and DT looked ok, I couldn't tell what was being said, but i guess it was positive.

Well let's hope he can stay healthy and this is real attitude change and not just a momentary uptick. With his speed and size he has the physical tools to be a better option than ARE straight away. It is going to take focus and determination for him to channel that into something though so he has to stay at it for good. But early signs are indeed encouraging. This would be a serious boon if it worked out like we think it can.

Yeah, hopefully he won't change his attitude and get even more cocky once he gets the starting job. It will be very beneficial if he performs the way we expect him too. But I have faith in him.

HAIL D. THOMAS!
HAIL REDSKINS!

I read last year that he knew he had alot to learn and was working hard to get up to the NFL speed. I don't think that his attitude changed over night rather then he learned last year he cannot just show up to camp and become a starter from day one.

As long as Thomas and Kelly produce , we should be just fine . I would not be suprised if both made a number of big plays this year . Davis should also give defenses some problems ! If Kelly can remain healthy for 4-5 years , I could see him being a pro bowl type WR ..... lets hope

I saw that Kelly was held out of practice due to a sore knee - lets hope this is not serious again!

Yeah, I heard that he was seen after practice with ice on his knee. But he said that it was an everyday routine.

Let's hope that thing doesn't start bothering him again.

I hope this lights a fire under him. We'll what he can do in preseason, but I think giving him a starting job this early might not the best thing for him.

Re: Devin Thomas to Start Opposite Santana Moss

Let's be clear...the article does not say that DT is starting, just that he is on track to do so.

That having been said, it would be huge for the offense if he can step it up this year. I'm definitely rooting for him.

Barring injury or regression, they said, expect Thomas to be the starting Z receiver, or flanker, opposite top wideout Santana Moss, the X receiver, or split end.

Learn to read my man.

Re: Devin Thomas to Start Opposite Santana Moss

I hope this is because of performance rather than potential...but I love this news. He looked like he could be great at times last season, especially on his TD run on the reverse. He has the size and talent to be a big time WR for many years.

Wow, that's pretty big for a second year player. I just hope he can keep the job.

Re: Devin Thomas to Start Opposite Santana Moss

I like the idea of Thomas and Moss. Add in Cooley and Davis in a 2 TE set with CP in the backfield.
