Jason Campbell to be on SI cover next week

Uh Oh, Maybe.

Personable and hardworking, Campbell is as well-respected in his locker room as any quarterback in the league except maybe Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. "There's such great admiration for him around the team," says tight end Chris Cooley. "Nobody in this building doesn't want Jason to play great this year, go 8–2 in his first 10 games and force Dan to give him a huge contract." Says Snyder, "I do too! I want a franchise quarterback. I'd love for Jason to be that guy."

Will that be a national cover, or are these regionalized covers?

I just heard them talking about this on 106.7. Lavar seems to side with JC(Shocker).

let me get this straight - we're afraid because he's on the cover that he will be cursed with below average play? as opposed to the great years he's had previously, and the losing won / loss record as a starter ?

yeah yeah i know he's been in different systems over the course of his career. interesting though how rookies like flacco and matt ryan lead their teams to the playoffs.

JC on either of those teams probably would have done the same thing. Both Atlanta and Baltimore were stronger overall teams than the Skins were last year.

Great picture. Is that the footwork Zorn has been working so hard on?
Exactly what I was thinking. At least get a picture of him looking like a QB!

I would say MAtt Ryan had more to do with the Falcons getting in the playoffs then Flacco did with helping the Ravens get in the playoffs. Flacco rode the coat tails of the Ravens defense. Apperently the word around here is Flacco is having a bit of a rough training camp this year.

Rather than jumping into another debate on how good JC is & how good he 'could be,' for simplicity's sake I think objectively we can say that he was at least average in 08. Avg. QBs can win w/the right team. There are tons of "average" nfl players making big contributions on winning teams.

IMO it's hard to say that JC wasn't at least "average" last year. Few TDs, but fewest INTs in the league. The record, 8-8 was average as well.

Following this logic, the team would suffer if he were "cursed with below average play." Now, the subject of curses is for someone else to discuss.

I was just joking bout cover, i remember being little and whenever my team was on the cover they would lose or it seemed that way. Other posters seem to think JC could have done what these rookies did if he was in the right situation, well this is his year to prove that.
