What has Obama done well?
Most of us know that Obama has done a poor job thus far as president (at least those that are willing to look at things objectively). So to be fair, and objective, what has he done right thus far?
Please note, this is not a bash Obama thread, we could fill up a ton of pages with what he's done wrong, this is purely a thread to show the positive Obama has done to this point...I'm sure Obama has done some good, so here's your chance to voice it.

LOL
I love the backhanded nature of this thread.

Re: What has Obama done well?
I can see how you would think that, it's my way of saying "of course we all know I don't like Obama", but Matty gave me the option to say the positive that Bush did, and I did. I'm not out to hear the negative of Obama, I already know the negative, I want to hear the positive. Everyone deserves that.

Re: What has Obama done well?
I'm a righty and disapprove of a lot of what he stands for. But so far I like:
- The decision to pump money into the banks as part of the bailout. - So far so good with promises not to increase taxes on the middle class. - The reallocation of troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, and the increased pressure on Pakistan to allow us to hunt for the enemy. - The speech to the Muslim world in Cairo. Not sure it accomplishes all that much, but extending the olive branch can't possibly be a bad thing.

Re: What has Obama done well?
Wait a second...
You say that Obama has done a poor job, and imply that if anybody disagrees with that then they are not objective. So, you want people to post what they think he's done well -- although it must all be BS because he's done poorly by "objective" standards. Sounds like a setup. I think you worded your post poorly, and as a result this thread might not get much attention. In which case, you'll point to it as an example of how nobody can come up with any reasons he's done well. I also think it's funny that you say, "to be fair and objective." Then you also say, it's not a "bash Obama thread," but you bash him in the first post by saying we could fill up a ton of pages with what he's done wrong.

I just thought your initial post was awfully matter-of-fact, but highly subjective, and a little fallacious. When I read it, my first thought was, "this guy doesn't care about what Obama has done right -- his motives lie elsewhere." I'm pretty sure giving that impression wasn't your intention, so I figured you could have worded it better to avoid that. CRedskinsRule got it right.

Re: What has Obama done well?
He seems so be good at putting a lot of debt on the books, but that's pretty much all of them.
Hmmm? Let me see. Nothing really that I can see. Thanks for raising the taxes on my smokes jerk! (Middle Class tax increase) Oh, I almost forgot. He's getting's Congressmen reamed out for his stupid BS. I love watching those politicians get screamed at. They deserve it IMO. It's not like they give a damn anyway, so might as well talk down to the rats. If you want a free lunch then you'd be pretty happy with Obama. If you're going to have to pay for someone else's free lunch, whether you like it or not, then he can do no right. In all fairness, he kept his mouth shut when the Persians were getting killed in the streets. That was good because it's not our business.

Is this serious, or are you just joking around?

Re: What has Obama done well?
No, I'm serious.
I used to read the news every morning, until I realized it basically ruined my day. As you can probably tell from my posts, I'm easily irritated when it comes to this kind of stuff. I discovered that I can't read the news without getting upset, so I just stopped. I also stopped voting and just stopped caring in general. It just seems like we're too far gone to get back on track -- not as a country, but as a race. Pretty cynical, I know. Just one of my many flaws. I'll probably lose all credibility with this statement, but I doubt I had much left with the other posters anyways. All of this is not to say that I don't care to argue principle, I just don't know enough about what's going on to apply it to the issues. Anyways, imagine a guy like me, who's totally ignorant about what's happening, to come here and see people arguing about the President bowing to another human being. Seems pretty ridiculous to me, and also validates my attitude.

Re: What has Obama done well?
Maybe a different re-start to the thread:
Let's discuss the positive actions President Obama has accomplished so far. |
