Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
I don't know how many of you have heard about this 25 year old video about Collinsworth but seriously you have to see it to believe it.
Still I miss the 80's. Also for anyone wondering the quote is taken out of context and suspiciously cut off but still it's kind of funny. Plus I felt a little left out not getting a chance to make a "disappointment" thread since offense and defense were already taken so it was between this and the training staff.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
Truly a disappointing "broadcaster." I know of no fan that actually thinks highly of him. I don't how how he manages to get a job sitting next to Al "The Great" Michaels.

He's being facetious regarding the underage girls... Can you imagine anyone saying such a thing today, though?

Collinsworth is Anthony Mix's teacher.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
I don't know anything about Cris Collinsworth's predilections [and I don't want to know], but I think he's a good NFL analyst and a big improvement over Madden, who was, by far, the most overrated broadcaster in the history of overrated broadcasters.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
Personally I like Collinsworth. He does get annoying at times but he's well spoken and knows what he's talking about.
And I'm surprised to read all the negative comments about Madden. Maybe he tailed a bit in the later years but the guy is a legend. I'm almost 40 and I find it hard to believe anyone around my age wouldn't have tons of respect for Madden. I mean the guy had the best football video game named after him. Not a player or coach but an ANNOUNCER?? Just shows what an integral role Madden played in the football world. And the best announcer on tv today?? Troy Aikman. Not even close. |

But I agree with you. In the 80's and 90's, no one was better at color announcing than Madden.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
He borders on un-watchable. He's much more critical than I prefer analysts to be. Just analyze, don't MMQB every single play and ride your high horse for 3 hours.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
It was sad hearing Collinsworth blame Chicago's receivers for every interception that Cutler threw. This guy is tolerable in small doses, anything more he becomes unbearable.

Re: Cris Collinsworth = Disappointment
I don't think theres a great announcer in American Football. No one that really makes or breaks weather you watch a game. There are a few that will make you press the mute button but those are few and far between. The one's that really annoy me are those patronizing local sports shows that make big deals out of everything. You would have thought that Auburn had a shot at the national title after beating Northwestern Southcentral Louisina District 1 college.
Baseball has Jon Miller. And Soccer....well soccer has this guy named Ray Hudson who goes absolutely nuts with his metaphors. My friends and I like to sit around sometime and come up with our own Ray Hudson lines.
