Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse

I can't help but look ahead on the schedule and wonder how much worse it's gonna get. This was supposed to be the "easy" stretch of the schedule and we're looking at limping in to the bye at best 3-4, possibly 2-5.

Check out what's ahead after the bye:

@ Atlanta
Denver
@ Dallas
@ Philly
New Orleans
@ Oakland
NYG
Dallas
@ San Diego

Outside of Oakland, it's looking like a rough 2nd half of the year. Top 5 pick anyone? Buckle up folks, things are gonna get real bumpy.

The funny part is it would not surprise me one bit if we did not play strong in that stretch leaving us fans scratching our heads.

I was thinking the same thing, and if Blache can continue to get the D to play the way they have the last 2 weeks this team will always be in games. I'm not saying a winning season is before us, but we might get to 7-9 & look somewhat respectable.

The optimist in me feels the need to point out that we often rise to the occasion against division rivals. See last year: we lost to the Rams, Bengals, and Niners, but swept the Iggles and split with the Boys.

I'm not saying that everything is ok. I'm just saying that it might not be as bad as it seems. We could be 4-3 at the bye.

We will not sweep the Eagles this year. Shoot they look just as strong or stronger with Kolb in there. Maclin is going to be hot with Donovan there. Split with the Boys is quite possible, if not probable. Gmen are just too strong. WE can beat the AFC West for sure, but ATL and NO, forget about it. Too many weapons with those two teams and our running game is suffering. Shoot, NFL.com fantasy writers say to trade Portis ASAP( I have him). Realistically, the best we can hope for is 7-9. You can't expect to beat those NFC powerhouses scoring only 14-17 points. Our D is good, but has only gone up against one top notch team all year(NY) and the Gmen are stronger now than then, as they are running on all cylinders. If we lose to KC next weekend it is going to be 5-11 or 6-10. Fans need to start carrying anti Snyder signs into Fedex and wear bags on their heads, or better yet not show up. This needs to go on for a while, but it will get media attention and Snyder's ass will be held accountable. People really were starting to harp on the Fords and all those blackouts Detroit has had the past few seasons caught up to them. Snyder has no reason to change direction if he is maxing out the profits still.

No more dealing draft picks. We need as many as we can get to build the team. We have been doing that since Gibbs came back and that has set this team back plenty in terms of overall talent and depth. Haynesworth will be another Wilkinson, some production, but not to the level he was expected to do. Hall looks like he might pan out, but we still overpaid him. If we do finish below .500 we still could land a top QB, just not the big names. Look at Flacco and Ryan. Solid Qbs that were not top headliners.

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse

^ OR it would be the opposite of last year ... like a 3-5 start, and a 5-3 finish...

we will prolly beat philly at home in 2 weeks...

we will prolly beat dallas at home...

for some reason we'll prolly beat denver ...

the best as of right now its looking is not good at all....

just saying it would FIGURE for our team to go ahead and start 3-5..
.. then go 5-3 and be looking at 8-8 again.

i hope they turn things around, in w/ever way possible.... its not looking like that but who knows....

I just feel with our current OL situation, we're going to be so overmatched it's going to be a joke.

Yes, I get that same feeling. We've played the worst schedule by far of any NFL team and we can't score points.

We've got a good enough defense, but playing the likes of Philly, NY, Dal and the other teams, we've got to put points on the board. Our offensive line is so bad right now, it might be pretty tough.

Very, very discouraged right now.

You're right, but at the same time, I think the div. games will be close & we might pull out a couple.

Glad you have some optimism left. Mine got sucked out of me watching Samuels go down and seeing Mike Williams on the field.

We have no chance of winning more than 5 or 6 games with this OL. The sad part is that our OL problems were completely foreseeable. We fans have been crying for a re-build of the OL for years!

How many of us truly believed, based on their injury history, that Randy Thomas and Chris Samuels would make it through a 16-game schedule? I know I didn't. The FO had to know that the odds of both of these key players going down to injury was very high, yet this very real possibility was not addressed in the off-season through trade, FA, or the draft.

Sure, fire Zorn. He's truly clueless. I'll grant that. But as long as this pathetically inept FO tandem of Ceratto and Snyder continue to make poor player personnel decisions, we have no chance of becoming an NFL power.

And yes, it will get worse this season - much worse. Heaven forbid that we lose to KC on Sunday! That could send us into a free-fall.

Traditionally we have always played well against the better teams. Going foreward, we can only hope tradition continues to hold true. I agree though our O-line situation does not enhance any chances we may have.
