Holy cow. Boldin to Ravens, Dansby to Dolphins, Rolle likely to NY and Warner retired. Cards are instantly in rebuild mode!

Amazing deal for the Ravens...I'd be pissed if I were a Cards fan.
The reality is if you are a top 8 team from this year (I think) you cant add a free agent unless you lose one of the same value...so you pretty much want to stock up on picks.
Perhaps that had something to do with it?

Re: Ravens get Boldin

Could we have traded ARE and some of the others we cut to have gotten him? Without hurting our pockets, or giving the draft picks away that Balt. did?

I know we are headed in a new direction but, He could have been a nice addition.

Is this a serious question?

doubt they wanted ARE with a contract at around 4-5 a year for the next several years

Re: Ravens get Boldin

I would have thought the ravens would've gone after marshall or a first round rookie to solve their WR issues. Boldin's a little injury prone for my likings, although that may partly be b/c I owned him in fantasy last year lol. Regardless, I doubt the ravens are done with the WR position this offseason...

I think they need to get a good WR in the draft. Boldin is a huge upgrade to what they have, but if they don't get a good rook and Boldin gets hurt is back to square one. Still, their offense is going to be much better and right now they appear to be the top team in the AFC North (barring major injuries, especially in the defense).

Meh, he's 29 going on 30. The Ravens can have him. I'd rather develop D. Thomas and more young WRs than add another old guy to the roster.

I agree, I think our trio: Thomas, Kelly, and Davis will be the talk of the league next year. Three tunes in his career Boldin has played 12 games or less and a couple of times just short of 16. If he holds up for a couple of seasons, it was a good deal. But that's a big if.

EDIT: three times

Thomas: Deadliest #1 in the league.
Kelly: Best possession receiver in the league
Davis: Second coming of Shannon Sharpe.

I see improvement, but not talk of the town type stuff, not yet anyway. With the exception of Davis( who became a stud TE), the other two improved somewhat, but nothing to get one overly excited about. Kelly was an absolute big zip until the season was effectively over for us. We won't see til 2011 if these guys are busts or not.

I agree with you for us but for the ravens a team that only needs a few pieces it makes sense.
