No not at all. So your saying that BP can pressure the UK into releasing him but our president of the strongest nation in the world cannot pressure them to not release the guy? Thats a rhetorical question. He did after all kill 189 US citizens and has served like only 9 yrs in jail. Its a slap in the face to all the relatives who lost someone in the bombing.

Disgusting. Just another reason none of my gas tanks will ever see another drop from a BP station.

You can boycott BP all you want all they are going to do is sell their oil to another distributor who will in turn sell it to you. You cannot boycott BP, you may think you can, but you can't. You would either have to own and process your own oil or stop driving automobiles alltogether.

In the world of Miller-FD:

a majority is a minority, and the President can force other sovereign nations to bow to our will with a single glance.

As I try and tell my kids - Real Life is not a video game.

Re: More Controversy for BP?

from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8216589.stm:
23 August 2009
Quote:
Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond has said releasing the Lockerbie bomber was the "right decision", as criticism mounts from both sides of the Atlantic.

It follows an attack by the head of the FBI, who said freeing Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi made a "mockery of justice".

...

Mr Salmond said the release was correct within the Scottish system, adding: "We didn't do it to court popularity."

...
He said Scotland had a "strong" and "enduring" relationship with the US, but it did not "depend on us always coming to agreement".

...

"We understand the upset. We understand the disagreement. But we have to do what is right in terms of our legal system, that is what we are duty-bound to do," he said.
Not sure that Pres Obama or any US politician was gonna change the outcome.

Re: More Controversy for BP?

Just an FYI, I think it was something like almost all BPs are privately owned. As much as I hate what they've done to the environment, not using them is still hurting the local businessmen.

You're right. I'm pretty sure they are almost, if not entirely, out of the retail side of the business.
