Redskins vs. Eagles Game - Positives

It was a sloppy win, but a win. Here are my positives...

- A good start with 14 straight points (which probably won us the game)
- Torain was running with purpose
- At least in the first half, we did a decent job with 3rd downs
- We're 2-0 in the NFC East
- We finally have a 2-headed running game (well hopefully CP is not that hurt)
- 'Zo starting was a good idea

I agree and defense played much better with a lead.

Looks like all of us are going to have to like Torain because CP may be done.

Great point. If we hadn't spotted the Rams 14 points to start the game last week, it argueably could've been different. Just like giving them 14 points to start the game last week is what changed the game, us coming out and scoring 14 to start gave us a boost, and our defense played good enough to hold that lead throughout.

And the running game showed up. It made a big difference because McNabb was basically shut down in the second half, and the running game was doing good enough to keep drives going and eat up clock. If they shut down our running game, there's a good chance we see a lot more 3 and outs in the second half and they come back to win this game.

Still plenty of negatives but this time we did make enough plays when we had to in order to win.

Although Heyer was called for several penalties, anyone hear from Trent Cole?

Torain was da man. Quentin Mikell, meet Ryan Torain.

The defense looked much better. We needed more of a pass rush but we did not give up the big play.

Lorenzo Alexander makes the defense better when he starts at LB.

Wow, big win. I'll chime in more later, just wanted to say I was impressed with how we bounced back strong today.

Also, as someone mentioned, the DBs did a good job keeping Maclin and Jackson as non-factors in the game. And they had a bit of a down moment (Rogers INT drop that could have ended the game) and a big time up moment (D. Hall's INT that ended the game).

Don't forget they put Vick on the sideline.
It looks to me like many of the Eagles receivers were afraid of Dirty 30. When he was around the Eagle receivers suddenly got alligator arms.

I had the same perception.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles Game - Positives

Adjustment on defensive scheme was a good thing to see
It looked like a ton of 4 -3 to me...with a lot of Haynesworth.
I did see a couple 2 man fronts, that usually failed...but a 4 man front is better than the 3 we'd been seeing.
Looked a lot more like last years 4-3 defense than the prior 2 weeks garbage....and that is a good thing.

Your right there was a lot of base 4-3 alignments, but he never blitzed off of it, he stunted a few times.
