Redskins Have An All-Time Record In Their Sights

The Redskins defense is giving up 420 yards per game thru 6 games in the 2010 season.

The NFL record for the most yards per game yielded over a season was in 1980 (or maybe 1981) by the Indianapolis Colts. They gave up 424 yards per game.

That means after 6 games, the Indy Colts record-setting defense had given up only 24 more yards for the year that the 2010 Skins.

The record is there for the taking...

Well that's assuming they gave up an average of 424 yards for the first 6 games .. but yeah, I would love to have that record \sarcasm

The Colts were still in Baltimore at the time.
Still, if there's a franchise makes it on the end of an embarassing trivia questions, count on the Redskins to pull it off.

I don't see it happening. This defense takes some time to get down and once we do the YPG will start to come down. By the end of the year we should be a pretty good D. Also you have to look at the Offenses we have face thus far, all but the Rams are in the top 10 in YPG I think.

We have had the Colts, Philly, Dallas, Houston, and Green Bay. All of these teams are top notch Os. We held the Eagles in check somewhat. The Colts and Houston put up big numbers and points while the Packers put up big numbers but only 13 points.

It is early and I do not think we will get near this number by the end of the year. Does the article point to the fact that we have played these top flight Os? I am assuming you pulled this from the Post, I saw it but did not read it.

They will get it together on Defense.

We'll never be out of the woods with regards to offenses. They may not be top in rankings, but we still have to face some very talented offensive players in the future. Favre, Randy Moss, Maurice-Jones Drew, Chris Johnson. Hell, Josh Freeman looks like he's legit and I believe Cutler is going to be legit.

I just suspect a vast improvement from now until the end of the year. Also there should be somewhat of a jump in defensive production after the bye week, when Has and the crew get to spend a couple of weeks looking at the first 8 games and deciding how to approach the last half of the season.

It is still early and I will ot believe this is the worst defense of all time. We have seen flashes out of the unit SirCP. These guys have the talent just let them get on a roll.

They'll be better, but sometimes there are flaws that cannot be fixed without an influx of new personnel. Namely, the nose tackle. It's one of the things you NEED to have to have a working 3-4. Otherwise, teams are going to have a field day running the ball. And for a fella like Chris Johnson, well, let's just say the outcome does not look pretty.
I wouldn't count on either AH or Kemo developing into an effective one.

That Colts team was 2-14 with an end of season point differential of -274.

We are 3-3 with a point diff of -6. Record and point diff are far more important than yds allowed. I couldn't care less about the yds allowed if we wind up above .500.

Our D hasn't been getting much help from our O either.

By "holding" the Bears to 322 yards we brought down the average.
