Randy Moss to Retire

Schefter just reported this on Twitter:

"Adam Schefter
Filed to ESPN: Future Hall-of-Fame wide receiver Randy Moss has decided to retire rather than continue playing, agent Joel Segal said."

That typically happens when people retire.

Anyway, here are his numbers:
13 seasons, 954 catches, 14,858 yards & 153 TD

Re: Randy Moss to Retire

Interesting tidbit by Rich Eisen:
"Rich Eisen
Randy Moss decides to retire, which means if - a BIG if - everybody stays put, Moss and Favre could go in the Hall together."

So close to 1,000 catches and 15,000 yards. Say what you want about his ugly antics, he could play football.

Agreed. Although if he had tried to play in Oakland, maybe he could have gotten there.

I don't think this will last. He'll play again in the NFL at some point. He's just mad he hasn't gotten a nice offer yet.

Wasn't there some story recently about how he was in the best shape of his career or something?

Mature.

I agree he's not much of a person but he IS one of the most talented players we've seen recently. His numbers should get him into the HOF and that really does make him worthy of the mention.

Michael Irvin is proof that you don't have to be a decent person to become a HOFer.

Michael Irvin was never a bad teammate, Moss on the other hand is.

I'm sorry if you don't like the fact I relish that assholes never get the big championship, but it makes me feel all warm and snuggly inside.

On the field, yes. But I don't think I'd want a teammate who slashes another teammate's throat.

On Moss, shame he didn't have a good work ethic, he would've been even better and might've put up 200 TDs. Likely first ballot HoF and arguably the most dominant WR of his era....and I do agree he could be a real a-hole.

I never got the hate for Irvin beyond him being a Cowboy. He seems, at least these days, like a genuinely nice guy. Maybe he was a little different when he was partying hard and snorting lines of white powder but I never felt like he was a bad guy, like Pacman or any other trouble maker you might want to name.

Monkeydad:

You can add OJ to this list of HOFers who are not "great people"...
