Portis for Larry Johnson
I heard an interesting rumor at the stadium yesterday that George Michael's of channel 4 is starting rumors of a Portis for Larry Johnson trade. Has anyone else heard that? Personally I think it would be terriffic. Johnson is more of the between the tackles back that Gibbs likes. Betts did a great job yesterday.
Clinton Portis is not a 'core Redskin' guy. He doesn't want to grind out the hard yards and doesn't have the heart to be on this team. He wants all the glory and only wants big plays not the '2 and 3 yard stuff' as he has stated in the past. What a mistake. |

I would consider it if a high draft pick came with Johnson. We gave up a lot to get Portis so trading him for a more unproven back even up is not a good value move. I do believe Portis is not the best fit though. I am not ready to run him out of town, but I will certainly listen to offers...

wow...I think we should definitly trade Portis. I mean, who would want a top five running back anyways with no oline. lol. Portis is our back for the future, we dont need to go screwing with our roster anymore.

Seriously, just stop it with the Portis trade rumors. It's just dumb.

It's funny, on one hand we have a bunch of people crying about the cap and our dead cap space, and on the other we have people who want to deal half the team away and further bury ourselves in the cap.
If you guys want cap hell, dealing/cutting guys with big contracts is the best way to do it. |

Portis is untradeable because of his cap number.
Lets PLEASE stop talking about this. |

All I've been hearing lately is trade Portis, trade Lavar. Come on guys let's be a little more realistic. |

Hell, while we're at it let's just cut Brunell, Barrow, Gardner & Samuels. I'd love to see that cap mess. |

Why would KC want two of the highest paid backs in the league? They'd have Holmes and Portis. They know they need to upgrade their D. If they made this trade, I think they'd be the laughing stock. If we made it, we'd have to be on crack. Johnson had a good 4 or 5 games, let's give up one of the 5 best runners in the league for him! That's genius.

Its unfortunate that CP's and LA's (especially) are so high that they are untradable. It would be great to see what the skins could get for LA and to a lesser extent CP.

Matty, we're already the laughingstocks of the league because of the cap mess we'll be in 2006 and not to mention the signing of Brunell. How stupid would we look after giving both Arrington and Portis huge salaries and then trading them? By the way guys this isn't Madden where you can trade whoever you want and not worry about the salary cap. Whatever happened to have some continuity? |

There is no reason to trade Lavar Arrington nor Clinton Portis. Both are stars and when healthy, play like stars! Lavar is finally in a defense that suits his style and he just happened to sustain a hard injury to comeback with. Lets not send him up the river just yet!
The only players I think we could let go are Gardner and Morton....as far as bigger money deals! |

I love LaVar, he may be my favorite Redskin and Portis is my second favorite, so excuse my strong opinions about this subject. I mean...who wants players that are actually good?
