Lynch fined 75K!
For his hit on Dallas Clark last weekend, his next offense will bring a $500,000 fine! Wow
What do you guys think? Is this fair? |

He's been cheap shotting fools for years. It's about time it really starts to hit him where it hurts... his pocket book.

Everyone here can sound off about Lynch and his fine and how he is a "punk" right now, but if Sean Taylor does not clean up his act, he'll be getting the same fines pretty soon. And when that happens, it will be just as fair and just and deserved as the one for Lynch is now.
There are only two ways to stop that kind of stuff on the field and the NFL has gone the "economic route". Do it repeatedly and we'll make the fine so enormous that you won't do it again... There is another way but that would be far too creative for the league to adopt...

I knew SC was going to work Taylor in to his take on Lynch! LOL
Seriously though, I agree Taylor is headed down the same road. He's clearly become a guy the league has their eye on. It's not a matter of if, but when Taylor lays someone out and draws a substantial fine. When it does happen I wonder if we'll call him a punk or a beast. Damn I'm starting to think like SC LOL |

Taylor has yet to try to injure someone going head to head with them. That brings nothing but bad. He's hit them hard, and some risky tackles (high tackles) but nothing vicious. You try to slow em' down, not kill em.

Can anyone tell me what exactly the hit was, because I didn't see it. And I'm just wondering how it compares to Donovan Darius' clothesline of a couple of weeks ago. Because he was a first time offender and got fined 75K, then shouldn't a four-time offender be fined more?

All this talk about football being a violent sport and fines like this causing a player not to play at full speed and hit people in similar ways as if the fines are a bad thing? Players have to stop leading with the helmet, because it's becoming far more common instead of using the shoulder or heaven forbid their arms. These fines not only are to discourage the use of spearing and launching for the safety of the receivers but also the defensive players as well. If there isn't a change in the way defensive players, someone is going to die sooner than later during a football game. |

Lynch's hit wasn't as 'dirty' as Darius's was, it was a pretty solid hit except helmet was involved. I don't think it was intentional on Lynch's part, that's the way he plays the game, at 110 mph.

I've got an idea, why don't all the players slap a couple flags on their hips so they can just play powderpuff from now on.

thank you cpayne...my thoughts exactly...
it's amazing how people make a big deal about hits like Lynch's...however, back in the day when there was little to no protection, guys flew around like that all the time. the one example i can think of is Bedarnik laying out Frank Gifford...guys like Butkus and Sam Huff flew around just like Lynch, and we praise them for their efforts...look at how "dirty" the Raiders of the 70s were...yet, nowadays, with state of the art technology and protection, we're concerned for players' safety...which is valid, but not to the point where someone is a punk for doing his job...John Lynch makes one big hit and people are all over him... these guys don't go game in and game out thinking, "i'm gonna kill someone today" (Kill in the literal sense, not in the war cry adrealine sense)...they know each player has families to support, and lives to lead... here's the thing...football is a dangerous sport. players go in knowing this... what's more dangerous than those hits...playing on astroturf...just ask Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin
