More Draft Scenarios

With the news that Jr. DE Mathias Kiwanuka will NOT be entering the draft as expected, what do you think will be the Skins options? (Kiwi seemed like the most explosive DE in the draft - IMO)

1) Draft another DE? Perhaps Pollack or James...
2) Draft Antrell Rolle? (projected to be around for our pick in some polls) - of course, this is moot if we keep smoot. (Naturally, The Ade can fill in as needed at DE).
3) Trade down? Still pick up a solid DE like Spears and maybe the top Center in the draft (Wilkerson - LSU).

I say 2 or 3...

I'm liking Wilkerson as Center from the draft and I don't think we'd have to use our #1 pick on him either.

Nice name by the way...

Erasmus James is my pick......he will be a monster. I would like to see us try to pick up a 2nd round pick, maybe when we get rid of Gardner, and pick up Rodgers the CB or McNeil the OT from Auburn.

There's no way you draft a center at #9.

Well, maybe if he was 7 foot tall, 400 pounds, and runs a 4.4 forty it could happen.

I meant trade down from the #9 for a late first round and a second rounder and then use the second rounder to snag a center.

If you traded Gardner and a 2nd round pick I would question whether you could get a 2nd round pick in return!

I think the skins should trade down as far as necessary to add a #2 pick and then draft the best speed WR or pass rushing DE available.

I think Gardner actually has value...the problem everyone knows that he is on the bubble which could totally negate the value. I'd say Gardner could get a 2nd rounder in the right situation from the right team. He is probably more fo a 3rd rounder at this point though.

No disrespect intended but --

ARE YOU INSANE?? A 2nd or 3rd for Gardner?? Who do we call? Do it now before they come down from their crack high.

The no. 2 receiver on one of the worst pass offenses in the NFL - Now that's how you spell "in demand".

Seems all the drafts pundits are somewhat bagging the DEs avaiable this year. It is weird. In the descriptions of of James it sounds like he's amonster but then they list him anywhere from 8-15 on the big board. I think a qaultiy Pass rushing DE is a top 5 type pick. Is the rest of the draft just that good or are the DEs just somewhat less this year?

Anyways if James is available when we pick I say take him unless we can trade down a spot or two and get him and a pick. If we could get a nice 2nd rounder I think we'll go OL line. WR is going to be handled via free agency...I would bet my house on it. Just remember the last WR Gibbs drafted...that one didn't work out too well(Howard anyone?) No way Gibbs goes WR. There is just not a sure fire guy available.

if we traded down we could probably pick up pollack with that pick, as long as it is around 20, where he is projected to end up around, and then get a center or something with the pick we get.

All this speculation is totally out of whack until we see what juniors declare...that will change everything tremendously. Everyone needs to cheer for Leinart to come out as well as Brooks from UVa. The more guys coming out like that the better our pick at 9 gets.

whats the point in drafting antrel rolle?
a 9th overall is going to make a lot of money, not exactly top 10, but pretty close.

if we get rolle its basicly like giving away a first round draft pick to save 5 million in a signing bonus. its a waste of a pick that we couldve used at another position.

who wants to draft rolle anyways? carlos rogers would be a much better pick!

I think we could get a 5th round pick for Gardiner - but not much more than that.

I think most people realize that he will probably get cut this year, so unless they are concerned that there might be a bidding war for him (yeah right) then I'm sure they will just wait until he is cut.
