Good eats
This past weekend we went out fishing and we caught more then we could keep. If you have never had striper to eat you don't know what your missing. We went out two days and caught our limit both days of Va Beach coast. When the fish were not biting the whales were putting on a show but I never could get any pics of them. Its not me in the pic so I marked through their face.

Re: Good eats
Looks awesome, FD. I didn't know we had fish that big in VA. I've always wanted to do deep sea fishing in the OBX when I go down, but never have.

Daseal, my offer is open to anyone here that wants to go to let me know and now is a great time to fish. I enjoy putting people on the fish as much as I do catching them myself. Last edited by firstdown; 01-10-2012 at 07:19 PM. |

Re: Good eats
This guy got a pic of one of the whales jumping. Pretty cool to see this just 50 yards away. He has one bad ass camera and takes some really nice pics while he is fishing. If you know the area thats the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in the back ground.

Re: Good eats
We have some pretty big fish in our area. Sharks, stripers (those in the pic are nice size but they get bigger), red and black drum (the blacks can get over 90 pounds), and many other fish. They are catching 300 pound blue fin tuna within a mile of the beach but its rare they run in this close to shore.

Re: Good eats
Nothing better than fresh rockfish. I go out with a buddy of mine every spring when the trophy fish are running. He usually has about 20 lines in at once run on out riggers, its such a blast. The way I prepare mine is with a sprinkle of salt and pepper a hint of fresh lemon juice and a pile of crab meat on top, wrap it in foil toss it on medium heat on the grill and 15 minutes later your good to go.

Re: Good eats
Totally agree. You saw my scallop tacos last night. Cash money homey.

I use tuna and blacken it with House Bayou Blackening Spice. We just use the mild Salsa from Harris Teeters, cheese, and my wife makes up some sour cream stuff. We also use shreaded cabbage which gives them a nice crunch. This is the blackening spice we use its the best I have found which I think you can also get at Harris Teeters. |
