Skins Injury Thread 2012
I made this because I'm constantly fretting about where to post injury updates at so people can see it. So I made this thread in hopes that this kinda becomes a sticky and we can keep this thread limited to Skins injuries, rumors, updates, etc.
So to bring this thread up to speed in regards to the more serious injuries: Fred Davis, Nick Sundberg, Orakpo, Helu, Carriker, all on injured reserve. Fletcher and Garcon didn't practice this week. Meriweather had a limited practice. Here's the update on Garcon that I posted in the Around the NFL thread and then got OCD: Redskins WR Garcon has torn ligament on right foot - Yahoo! Sports

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
Heard one of the ESPN guys stating that it's a very real possibility that Garcon could be done for the year. That if he cannot go after the bye......well
We'll see. ...tough injury year

Does BM have a chance of actually playing?? If so I'd hope he isn't running routes near AR...

Doubtful. Limited practice Wednesday. Didn't practice today. I'm thinking we won't see him before the Philly game after the bye.

If we win Sunday it'll be HUGE for our playoff push and some of these guys to get healthy would only help the matter

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
any time i hear "torn ligament" it doesnt sound like something that is going to go away or get significantly better with rest. I hope i'm wrong.

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
It just depends on the severity of the tear. Unless it's torn significantly or all the way through, rest can heal it.

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
I had a partial tear before and it healed up just fine. It took a while though. 6 to 8 weeks sounds like a very short time. For me, it was a partial tear in my thumb from playing hockey and it took 6 months to really feel better even though I could play again much sooner.
Basically, if there is something partially torn and partially holding on, enough rest allows the body to reconnect the torn ligament. A full tear requires the torn ligament to be tied up and pinned to the bone so that it will reconnect and heal. Many times, something can be designed to prevent the injured digit from overextending. Then, it would be possible to numb the area and let him go back out and play during the healing process. The problem is that the extra work is pretty painful after playing once the shot wears off. Basically feels like a setback even if muscularly it isn't.

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
Rocca was a full participant which is good, didnt I hear something about us trying out some other Eagles punter??? Also was wondering if Aldrick Robinson is 100% - we are going to need him to step up like he did in New Orleans to lessen the pain of the Garcon deal - I have this terrible feeling he is done for the year based on what im reading and seeing. Will be nice if we can still have some run of success this year and get Garcon, RAK, and Carriker back for next year.
BTW I think this is a great thread Dynamite. |

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
2 things I want to state:
1) I was watching, I want to say ESPN; if not Foxsports; and they did a report on astro turf and how it causes players to get Lisfranc injuries and ACL tears greater than grass fields. Garcon got injured in New Orleans, which is turf. How soon until the NFL says "all fields must be grass" 2) I've mentioned this before, but isn't it a tad odd that our banner, of the 6 guys listed there, 4 of them are injured and/or done for the year... Fletcher Orakpo Kerrigan Hurt hamstring and balancing problems| Torn Pec-IR | STILL HEALTHY Griffin Davis Garcon Still healthy (knock on wood) | Torn Achilles-IR | Torn ligament in football; could be IRed soon

They are completely different surfaces. Fieldturf is just as safe as Grass. I think the only place that still uses astroturf is Buffalo but I think they changed it last year. Garcon just gets hurt. Don't blame the turf. |

Re: Skins Injury Thread 2012
i just want this offense to stay healthy and the defense to get healthy. we finally have a legit touchdown scoring offense, not field goals left and right. Now the d cant stay healthy. welcome to being a skins fan you get one not the other
