Around the NFL...Week 12 Style

DeMarco Murray, Tyron Smith not expected to play on Thanksgiving | ProFootballTalk

Looks like Demarco and Tryron will be out, kinda as we expected

Im a little surprised Harbaugh is quick to name Keapernick the starter:

Jim Harbaugh says San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback will be determined by 'hot hand' between Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick - ESPN

Keapernick was impressive! I only watched the first half, but the 49ers looked absolutely flawless with him in at QB.

Man, Harbaugh just can't wait to kick Smith to the curb.

I predict that in the not too distant future, Smith will have be the winner of the "Best Back-Up QB In The League" title (A title now vacant due to Campbell's stunningly bad performances these past two weeks).

Re: Around the NFL...Week 12 Style

JC played just like he did here so many times. It wasnt just that the 9ers had a great pass rush, but it was his inability to feel the pocket and get rid of the ball in a timely fashion that was the reason why he was beat up last night.

As far as the 9ers it looked as though they changed the offense a little with CK at the helm and were able to incorporate some of the read option stuff that teams have been experimenting with as of late. It took the Bears by surprise and led to the beat down that was handed to them. The defense was off balance all night and looked unprepared.

Greg Roman the 49er's OC is great at adjusting his offense to his QB.

At the risk of "going there" ... isn't that exactly what MS and KS have done with RGIII?

I think 53 meant that with Smith they are more of a dink dunk offense and more of wide open offense with Kaep.

I took it to be that a coach, who has been discussed as a possible replacement for MS, was being praised for adapting his offensive system to the particular talents of the QB at hand. An ability similarly exhibited by our current coaching staff and for which many a poster has failed to give them credit.

At this point, other than a couple of folks, I don't know or care who likes/tolerates/hates MS. Just seems inconsistent to praise one coach for adapting and not do the same for others.

It was meant entirely as a compliment to Roman not a jab at anyone else. The more I read about him the more impressed I am. He seems to bring out the best in QB's and knows how to attack defenses very well.
He helped bring out the best in David Carr. Went from Stanford and Andrew Luck to the 49'ers and Alex Smith and as OC substancially improved their offense fairly quickly with a QB whose talent was being questioned and in the first year their W/L record improved. Pretty impressive if you ask me and since the poster before me expressed something along the lines of how well they were doing after halftime and a change in QB's, not against just any defense but the Bears defense, I expressed my opinion on Greg Roman. He seems to be successful wherever he goes be it college or pros.

But his offense is dink and dunk did you see the running formations and different players he used? He's pretty creative and unpredictable.

Indeed. I read all the articles linked to TWP and even being skeptical about analysts/sports-writers the variety of evidence given is pretty overwhelming. He's got a proven track record and sounds like everybody thinks he is or can be a great leader. That's partly why it seems just plain crazy there's interest in K. Shanahan as an HC...what owner/GM/VP is gonna risk their team/job on someone far less accomplished than what's available on the market?

But it's not just more potential for offense with Roman as HC, it means more potential with the defense too because Mike would be removed from the equation. It's pretty darn exciting actually...

Campbell had no shot yesterday, none whatsoever.

As for Kaepernick, nice job. Remember he played out of the pistol offense in Nevada.

I know some will see this as making excuses for him, it's not I could really care less about the guy now that he's not here. I agree he had no shot.

Chicago's OL got absolutely worked over all night long. A lot of times he had guys hitting him before he could even get set up in the pocket. I'm not sure Cutler would have done much better. SF was on fire right from the start.
