I'm So Over Christmas Music
How many times do I have to hear "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas". No wonder the suicide rates go up around Christmas.

Re: I'm So Over Christmas Music
I actually don't mind most Christmas songs but I think I started listening to them too early this year, so now they're getting on my nerves.
When I was in college I worked at a clothing store in the mall and we'd have to play the same Christmas CD all November and December. A lot of the songs were overly poppy and/or non-traditional, because the store wanted to be hip or whatever, but I still remember most of the lyrics 10 years later.

I like the traditional stuff. Not Mairah Carey's Christmas Remakes.

We usually turn on the Sirius holiday channels on the TV while we eat dinner. Last night, some putrid pile of steaming audio excrement came into my ears, nearly causing me to choke on my soft taco. The tree was blocking the view of the TV from the dining room table to I jumped up and dove for the remote. It was called "Xtina's Xmas" by Christina A-aaaa---aaaaahhhh---guuu-guu-gugugugu-llllllaaaaaaaahhhhhhh-lalalalalalalahhhhrrrrr-aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh-ahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. She murders every song she sings. O holy crap. Hit channel down and luckily there was some nice, safe Rudolph playing.

firstdown, I enjoy your Grinch-ness, but I also kind of agree.
It's like, there are never any new Christmas songs, so it seems played out. Like imagine one time a year, it's ALL 80s hits. By the 24th time of hearing Toto, "Africa", you'll be wanting to rip your ears off.

My wife loves Christmas music, so once Black Friday is upon us, it's stuck on her car radio, and somehow it used to get stuck on mine too. So I got into the habit of freestyling my own lyrics to Christmas songs because if I'm stuck listening to the same 10-15 songs sung by 47 artists for a month straight, I might as well make it more interesting for me. She eventually got so pissed at me for "ruining" songs that she won't listen to it with me anymore. I've learned to tolerate it more and stopped freestyling and she doesn't get mad if I change the station when we're in the car together. I do however wish I had written some of the lyrics down...

Re: I'm So Over Christmas Music
HA. Fantastic.
That Dropkick Murphies one was good too. I just want new songs, not Pop Star du jour singing the oldies.

Re: I'm So Over Christmas Music
How dare you. I love Christmas music. In part because I can play it at work at a low volume on speakers and not get any complaints because well it helps with the atmosphere. Better then awkward silence.
Still if you're into punk and alternative theres a lot of great Christmas music. Smashing Pumpkins probably has the most popular Christmas song that isn't traditional or pop. Some others I can think of: Marvelous 3 - Merry Christmas No Doubt - Oi to the World AKA - Christmas in Hollis Eve 6 - First Noel
