Sick of Free Agency

I am merely posting this to get some things off of my chest. I am sick of this whole Free Agency thing. Players are more into the making money part of the game as opposed to the playing with your heart part.

I want us to resign smoot, but the amount of money that the skins are offering is not enough apparently. He claims that he wants to stay in washington, but the money has to be there. The last time I checked he is being offered a 10 mil signing bonus and he wants something more like 15 mil. What in the hell can you do with 15 that you cant do with 10? That is more money than I will ever see in my life. All of these players talk about having to take care of their families and such. Hell, you can take care of a 3rd world country with that much money.

Players need to be reminded that they are getting paid to play the greatest sport on earth and that there are many of people who would love the opportunity to do it for nothing. I understand that agents are necessary, but their greed has had too much of an impact on professional sports. I also understand why there is a NFLPA, but damn, now a days the teams are the ones getting screwed. There has to be some sort of happy medium because I do not like where this is all going. The bottom line is that the players focus should be on the game and not on their wallets because if they invest properly their wallets will be fine.

angryssg - you have to remember that often players don't start as fans of this team. We're all die hard Redskins fans so we have a much different view on it. I'm sure you'd turn down an extra five million dollars, but for others it's hard.

Re: Sick of Free Agency

hell i would play for the redskins just for the oppurtunity to go to another super bowl. i would play for five dollars an hour. the minimum salary is about 5 times as much as my dad makes in a year. i wouldn't take a signing bonus. i would play for 100 grand. and these guys want 15 million. i think the league should impose a signing bonus restriction that says you can't give a player a higher signing bonus that 7 million.

Im sure it's different when you know you're only one hit away from not having a job. You push for the best salary you can in your field - why shouldn't they?

Because reguardless if they can play or not they still get paid. Besides the vast majority have a college degree. Their life isnt over after football.

Re: Sick of Free Agency

actually im only sixteen. i have never had an official job before other than doing odd jobs for my parents. i understand they get greedy sometimes. it could probably happen to one of us if the skins suddenly decided they would hire you or me. i just don't like how they want money. i want a ring. not money. the ring says it all. not how much money you make.

Re: Sick of Free Agency

How many jobs do you know you can hold out for an extra 5 million dollar bonus? Please let me know, I'd like to apply. They get paid for that small contract, the signing bonus is what they get. After that goodbye.

Yes - a football players college degree is worth a lot. Dexter Manley got a college degree and couldn't read. Explain that one.

People have said this many times, the skins aren't annually posturing themselves to be super bowl contenders. For them respect comes in terms of money, because they certainly aren't winning.

redskin fans should not been tired of it.they should be tired of the ones who bring in the free agenys if look at you could say frontoffice is the worst in nfl history.bring in old and tired players and coachs, yes including mr im to old gibbs.then your owner trys to buy a team and then tries to buy back the past.its time to stop play muscial chairs and dance with the lady you brought.now what needs to be done ,dont let stats guide you the d is not the strong you lost a lb and who cares about smoot(overrated) if the o lost the inside the 50 teams dont have far to go.use the draft,if you look at 40 times this far something 11 or 12 db 4.3-4.4 (how fast was smooth)lb running fast times 17 out 20somthing run in the high 4.one has a 45 inch ver.next is the o is ramsy your saver? is running plays that pop warner drew up?a guest what im saying thank god im a eagles fan!

Better yet, come back when your team can actually win a superbowl, then I might even listen to what you have to say. You realize that if the Eagles have accomplished anything in the past five years, they become a symbol of utter futulity and failure to win a ring, much like the hapless Buffalo Bills from the 90s (who we STOMPED in the Super Bowl BTW). Let's face it the most that the Beagles have accomplished since 2000 is getting an endorsement contract with Campbell's soup! Now that's what I call something to be frustrated about!

That must explain the lack of punctuation and absolutely idiocy spewing from your keyboard. Come back when you can make a valid argument. Thank you.
