Darren Sharper
I know that we are not trying to buy all of the big-name free-agents like we have done in the past but now we need an exception. I think we definitely should try and sign this guy. I watched this guy plenty of the times and he is so fast. He is very talented and who covers alot of ground with our blitzing schemes. If we sign him and rolle/smoot, draft mike williams we are going to the super bowl without a doubt.

Re: Darren Sharper
i dissagree completely. i think he is a good FS. but he is slow and old. plus, he wants alot of money. no way to sign him, a corner and a 1st round pick. lets not forget that moss is going to get a new deal.
i would like to see lott, bowen and clark fight its out for SS. |

Re: Darren Sharper
I agree I would rather see money spent elsewhere. I think Lott will do a fine job next year.

Re: Darren Sharper
It never ceases to amaze me how Darren Sharper is always one step slow on the big hit. See: 4th and 26 and the Catch II. Both of those plays are the way I will remember him. Laying the guy out...after the play had been made.

Re: Darren Sharper
no thanks... lott and clar are fine at FS... not playmakers, but capable enough and cheap... bowen can kill the run and blitz well, but is beyond horrible in coverage, which really sucks cause its tempting to want to leave him and watch him lay people out...

Re: Darren Sharper
We do need a new SS (I don't think Bowen's versatile enough), but we've got other more pressing needs (See, WR, TE, DE, DT, MLB, CB).

Re: Darren Sharper
Yeah, all we need is another free agent, old, slow safety in a Skins uniform in the twilight of his career. Can anyone say Stanley Richard? Or how about James Washington?

Re: Darren Sharper
I love Darren Sharper (he went to William and Mary, my school) but I just don't see him fitting into the salary cap and the lineup. As previously mentioned, we just have more pressing needs for our money.
I hope he ends up somewhere like Denver where he can continue to play well and challenge for the playoffs. |

Re: Darren Sharper
wow. i don't know what your smoking. darren sharper is old. plus there is nothing wrong with our safeties. i think it was a blessing in disguise when matt bowen went out. sean taylor will be the starter at free safety for many years to come. he will be amongst the elite in the next year or two. i would like to see either lott or clark starting at strong safety next year. as far as tight end goes, chris cooley is solid there. not spectaculer, but solid. you need to look at our defense as a whole. where were we ranked last year? third. could've been second. where was our passing game ranked last year. i think 28th. you don't need to fix what's not broken.

Re: Darren Sharper
I sort of agree with you mooby. The only arguement that I have is that Matt Bowen is a hard hitting safety who is capable of playing SS. He has done it before. Our DB positions are set once we sign another corner.

Re: Darren Sharper
i think smoot wants to resign with washington. his name has come up with the big free agents and there are a few teams out there cuz he's scheduled to visit with a few teams on monday, but i think in his heart he wants to resign with washington. if he doesn't get an offer he likes, then he'll probably just resign with us.

Re: Darren Sharper
And if he gets a better offer then he will sign with the team that offers it. Its all part of this FA thing that I semi despise

Re: Darren Sharper
i kinda like the cap, but i wish we could just resign our best players. but if there wasnt a cap, think about how it would be. every team could just resign any player they wanted to. there would never be any quality free agents on the market.

Bye the way, the redskins have not won a superbowl or even been a serious contender since FA. When we won all of our SB's it was as one of the highest paid teams and there was no salary cap. |

Re: Darren Sharper
hell I'd rather resign Iffy and plug him back in. but honestly we don' t need another strong safety. Clark did well last season and to me is better than bowen.
