Going to be a tough challenge, Carolina makes offenses look silly. Hopefully we can force a couple tos and we don't turn it over.

I truly believe the Skins will hand Carolina it's 1st loss of the season and people will want to jump on the bandwagon.

Re: Time to take the next Step: Skins vs kitty cats Pre-game thread
I'm still in the prove it to me mode. Sunday was a great win, and something to build from, but a lot of the offensive output was partially a result of such a terrible defense.
Between being an away game, a very tough opponent, and the Skins having yet to put back to back wins together. I am skeptical about winning this one. Simplistic question - if the Skins split the next 2 which team would you rather they beat, Panthers or NYG? Obviously we all want them to win both. |

That being said, they took care of business in a big way. Part of being a good team is winning the games you are supposed to. AND, perhaps the biggest story of that game was holding that offense to 14 points...so.... With Carolina, they are 9-0 which is real hard to do in this league. Aside from the NE game, and perhaps the NYG game, this is the toughest test for Washington to date - and on the road. However, when looking at their 9 wins, the only one I'm really impressed with is Seattle on the road. This is a game that can be won, for sure. Just gotta be solid in all areas. To answer your question: if the Skins split the next 2 which team would you rather they beat, Panthers or NYG? NYG no doubt. Even if Washington loses the Carolina game, they won't be more than one game out still...Beat NYG the following week and they're still in the driver's seat. Let's win them both though |

Because isn't that what the good teams do? The Pats hang 50 on everyone, right? Just like the Bengals, Packers, Panthers, Cardinals, etc. Or maybe the good teams, like the Skins aspire to be one day, win ugly 10-6 games sometimes and don't ALWAYS put up huge Offensive stats, especially when they run into good Defenses. If the Skins win 6-7 games this year, they've exceeded most people's expectations and optimism will be high going into next season.

I'm pretty sure I never said that "good" teams hang 50 on everyone, let alone that I expected the Skins to do that consistently or put up huge offensive stats against good defenses. I simply said they took care of business against a historically bad defense, that the biggest story was holding that offense to 14 points, and "good" teams win the games they are supposed to. Whether that is 47-14 or 10-6...doesn't matter. As a matter of fact, I never actually said the Skins are a "good" team (although I do believe they are "good"). I do agree that if they win 6-7 games this year that they will have exceeded most people's expectations...and I do expect them to exceed most people's expectations. For the record, my optimism is high, although I am also still skeptical. |

Re: Time to take the next Step: Skins vs kitty cats Pre-game thread
Greetings. I'm a Panther fan just stopping by to respectfully say hi.
I guess I should start by saying thank you for taking such fine care of our division rival Saints. I don't care what kind of defensive problems they have. That was impressive what you did. And their poor defense had quite little to do with you stopping Drew Brees. Good job! I won't be upset at you if you're a little nicer to my Panthers. If you don't mind, I'll snoop around and comment a bit this week, but I promise to behave myself. BTW, in answer to the above question ... my vote is that I'd rather you beat the Giants. |

I would answer the question "Both!". Besides, the Panthers can afford a loss and still win their division whereas we need every win we can get. I watched a couple of Panthers games this season and I was very impressed. Your team has a very good defense and the offense is doing what they need to do to win. Your WR's are a bit weak, IMO, so we need to clamp down on Olsen. But don't worry too much about that because we suck at covering TE's.

I'm sorry. I'm one of those goofy fans that know a bunch about my team but I know little of your strengths and weaknesses. If I were game planning against the Panthers, I'd say the same that most of you have said here: Try to contain Cam and do whatever you can to stop Olsen. You are right about our receivers. It's almost like we have an endless supply of #2 or maybe even #3 receivers. Weird thing is, someone different keeps showing up just enough. I've almost gotten the impression that we are better off this way because it's so hard to figure out who the star will be on this day. We have the makings of a spectacular D, but oddly enough, we've let other teams move better than expected, but our offense has done better than expected without our top receiver so it's worked out. |
