Still in it: Redskins-Eagles Post Game Thread
Game balls: Offense, minus 1 play where I'm partially blaming Kirk and partially blaming D-Jax for taking it easy on the route, for doing their job and keeping us in it.
RK: Clutch AF strip sack at the end, had several hurries other times. Did enough to get the W. WR corps: Everybody ballin' in their own ways, Crowder with the tough catch down the field, D.Jax with the huge play, Garcon with the clutch catch on 4th down. Negative balls: Deshazor Everett, man that int the end zone is worthy of a game ball but that blatantly stupid hit on Sproles was an ejection worthy offense, they had every right to be mad about that. Defense minus last play: Still shitty, still need a large infusion of talent. Whether or not Barry gets fired is irrelevant to me, if they give him a lot of new guys and he's still shitty next year then I'd fire him. Dustin Hopkins: Man you were auto under 50 last year, best kicker we've had in years. This year you remind me of our previous 19 kickers. Get your shit together, it's all mental at this point.

No link, but if that report during the game of a torn bicep for Sua Cravens is true that's a huge injury, at this point he'd probably be done for the year if true. Sucks for the kid because we sure could've used him for the stretch run, but hopefully he'll be back next year ready to go.

I'm okay with Everett. That hit was dirty and eagles players and fans were right to be mad, that was stupid, I was relieved when Sproles got up. But I like the spirit from a young player, he'll learn to play smarter. This defense needs hungry fired up players!!! And the previous hit on Celek wasn't a blindside block... Positives (some of): -Running Game -Josh Norman -Fat Rob and CT -Foster, RK, Murphy -2nd half D Negatives (some of): -1st half D -Hopkins -Breeland -Safeties LOVE THIS TEAM WIN !!! HTTR !

Still IN What?? you cannot be serious about this team doing anything other than breaking our hearts..that was a horrible Defense performance..the eagles left 20+ points on the field.Other than Norman the rest of our Db's are at best second string . I admire your dedication to the team..but the redskins are not going anywhere this year. they have the WORST D in the entire league !! Somebody correct me if I am wrong...

D was horrible in the first half, but really decent in the second half! I totally agree that Norman is our only good defensive back though. Secondary and DL has to be absolute priorities for next year. Everett might turn out to be a nice addition though.

That Desean Jackson catch over the shoulder is out of this world difficult. I can't tell you how hard it is to track a ball like that and come across and make the snag while being tackled. One of the better catches I've seen all year.
Shows you he has more talent than just speed. Just mind blowing. Let's hope Tampa loses and we can string a few together.

Re: Still in it: Redskins-Eagles Post Game Thread
Barry should perhaps get one more year with an infusion of talent and not the seemingly stop gap guys that we have in there now. If the D is still garbage after 8 games next year, then you can Barry.
We should absolutely be working out FA kickers at this point, in no way should Hopkins' job be guaranteed for next year. I was hard on Hopkins after the London games and you guys were like "no, he's money, he just had a bad day", and he has consistently blown kicks since then. And they aren't long ones either, very makeable kicks that he's blown that other kickers around the league can make with no problem...

Bought a $20 cold/hot Redskins mug/cup yesterday. Was drinking when I purchased it. That's a little steep, but the post game beer after a win taste really good in it.

Anytime you win on the road inside the division you have to be happy about that. I knew the Eagles were going to come out and play hard.

Bottom line is our offense is poised to do big things for years to come. We have a great gm, and he will fix the defense. In the mean time we are staring down the barrel of a second straight post season birth during a rebuild. Based on what this team was the when Gruden got involved it is certainly a rebuild. People need to chill the eff out and be celebrating what is going down.

Re: Still in it: Redskins-Eagles Post Game Thread
On the Sproles hit...it was hard, but I wouldn't call it dirty.
Remember, Everett was running full speed & Sproles came lunging forward & Sproles knee was just an inch off the ground (meaning he was crouching). So, I know Everette took his head off, but it wasn't like he went flying at him purposely. Sproles was continuing to get lower & Everett didn't have a lot of time to re-calibrate. It's not like Sproles is a tall guy to begin with either. To me, it was just a hard football play that deserved to be called a penalty, but I don't think it was "dirty". |

I agree Sproles went low, but he beat the ball to Sproles in a big way. A punt returner looking up in the air is about as defenseless as it gets. You absolutely have to slow up once you realize the ball is not in his hands, and he did not even try. I know it is bang bang but you normally do not see that because guys realize that they have not fielded the punt a good 3 or 4 steps away. Everette never even thought about letting up. |

Brian Mitchell and Crowder both said the same thing. They have pretty good resume as returners. Mitchell said if you are running UP to catch a punt, you have to protect yourself. He said if this would of been a routine punt with hang time, then he would shoulder more blame on Everett, but Everett was just playing football and did what he's supposed to. He also said you are not totally defenseless as a returner because the league gives you a get out of jail free card with fair catching. Bottom Line. It was a penalty by the book, but Sproles running up to field the punt in traffic and kneeling to receive it. He should of called fair catch.

One guy that hasn't been mentioned is Arie Kouandjio, I want to see him stay as the starter at LG moving forward.
Breeland had a bad 1st half, but I thought he redeemed himself in the second half with a sack and forced fumble.

Re: Still in it: Redskins-Eagles Post Game Thread
Redskins LB Su'a Cravens said he will have an MRI to determine the severity of his biceps injury. He said he wasn't yet sure if it was torn. He said he was in pain.
Redskins linebacker Will Compton said doctors told him his major ligaments are OK. He said he'll undergo an MRI Monday. He said it might be a torn PCL.
