On a side note, I used to work with a guy who had a metal frame cast just like this. He had broke his leg in an industrial accident. He ended up having close to half a dozen operations even after he got this thing, and while his leg looks good today all things considered, he is unable to do anything else other than a brisk walk - running / jumping is out of the question. He does walk with a slight limp, but it's hardly noticeable.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital
Yeah I don't see Smith playing again. That Doctor Quote pretty much sums it up. I would imagine he will retire.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital
That is the kind of stuff that infuriates me with Gruden. He didn't even know the full nature of the injury, really had no idea, and he goes and has the presser and says basically "Yeah, Alex is going to be fine, he's going to be back in 6 months".
Other coaches would say something like "Well I don't want to speculate on the nature of his injury, I haven't gotten to talk to the medical staff yet, but certainly I want to wish him the best and a speedy recovery". But not Gruden.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital
He said something along the lines of its usually a 6 MO recovery but I don't think he said Alex will be back

Wondered why we haven't heard from him but I guess we'll see when the new league year comes.
