2 Trade Questions
1. Does the NFL allow for trades with pick protection like the NBA where you can trade a first rounder that converts to two seconds if the pick is too high?
2. If it does, or did, would you trade our first this year (7) and our first next year (top 12 protected, converts to our 2027 second and 2028 second if our pick is in the Top 12) for Miles Garrett? |

Nah, NFL doesn't have that rule.

Re: 2 Trade Questions
Never heard of pick protection, but NFL drafts include conditional picks all the time, i.e. player X gets 1000yds and the trading team get a 2nd instead of a 3rd. But I doubt any NFL team would offer that kind of deal if the team trading away the pick performs better than expected. It's kind of the built in gamble with trading future picks. And not sure how that idea would work in the NFL. A team would have to have 2 2nd round picks available and their 1st rounder, and the NFL certainly wouldn't offer an additional pick to a team like that. Can't see everyone picking below them being happy with that arrangement.
No. Garrett is a beast still, but that's a steep price to pay for a 30yo Edge. For all we know, Bain for instance might be an equivalent player and you'd get the same benefit without giving up the additional picks. |
