Pats looking to trade picks for Taylor

There are reports out of Boston that the Pats will trade their 2 first-rounders, a second rounder and a fourth rounder for the Lions #6 pick and a fourth rounder, all contingent on Taylor still being there at #6.

Look here:http://www.boston.com/sports/footbal...epare_to_move/

Now, I'm sure they made this offer to us, or something close, given that we have no 4th rounder. (If they want Taylor, we're the ones holding the cards, as least as far as the Lions are concerned.)

Question: Should we take it?

It's a deep draft, so lots of picks would help. But getting a real impact player is rare. Hmmmm.

Hell yes we should take that. We can jus turn around, send those two first rounders right back to Detroit and get Kellen Winslow II. I'm HUGE on taylor, but two first rounders a second and a fourth would be a little much to pass up. I'd be happy just taking Taylor too.

Go for it!!

:thumb: I think we for sure have to trade, if the trade comes our way. Then we could move up by trading the two first and get a good player and have 2 two extra picks.

I don't think we should take that deal.. We NEED an impact player on defense more than multiple picks.. I advocated trading next year's # 1 for one of NE's picks if Will Smith or Udeze fell that far but I don't think such an impact player like Taylor will be available later in the 1st round.. We'd be looking at someone like Ben Troupe, Antwan Odom or Sean Jones in the bottom of the 1st round. Taylor is supposed to be a sure fire perennial Pro Bowl type player.. I don't see how we can pass him up..

I want Taylor as much as the next guy, but if you pass up on all those picks...you are foolish. GManc has the right idea, take those 2 1'st rounders, trade them back to Detroit adn grab Winslow and you know have a couple extra picks to boot....

I'm with you Paintrain- I tend to lean towards keeping the pick and getting an impact player, b/c we can't just assume that we'll be able to find a trade partner for those two late first rounders, can we? But, IF we could make the trade with NE and then already have someone willing to take the 2 #1's so we could move back up and take Winslow (and keep the second rounder we got from NE), I would be for that. But I want to see us come out of this draft with either Taylor or Winslow- preferably Taylor!

If we're offered something similar to that I'd jump all over it. Two first rounders and a second?! Wow, where can I sign up?

yeah 4 picks, including 2 1st and 1 2nd, for one pick would be awesome and I like the idea of then trading those picks to detroit to pick up winslow. maybe we could then use the 2nd gained along with trotter to move into the late first round and pick up J. Grove or the best d-lineman available. this definitely seems like a scenario Gibbs might accept as I would think he'd be more interested in filling multiple holes rather than only one.

Take it, no question. Then take one of the firsts and offer to add in Gardener or Trotter to get back to the #6 pick. How about that?

that'd be even better since it'd allow us to keep on of the 1st rounders to get a d-lineman or grove.

I'd say no thanks!

Taylor or Winslow are just too good to pass up. Sure, we get two low first round picks (the 2nd is practically a 2nd rounder) and a second rounder where we will find mediocre talent. I'd rather fill a hole for 10 years with an impact player!

Take the trade if it's there. It's not like we have spare picks cluttering up the war room. Besides, we can always sign Taylor when he becomes a free agent if 4 or 5 years time!!

I don't understand. Why would the trade mention Detroit and not us?

Are they so certain that we'll pass on Sean Taylor?

Hasn't Joe Gibbs already said publicly that we would trade the #5 if the deal was sweet enough?

Am I missing something here? Wouldn't New England want to deal with the team that has the better chance to land Taylor?

For the record, I would take the trade. Taylor is supposed to be good, but hell, who knows? The "experts" were pretty high on Mike Rumph too!
