Camp Old School: 1991, Team Turmoil
By Rich Tandler Editor-in-ChiefGreat Gibbism at the end there ... "fighting our guts out. . . . " I hate bringing up the past, I know it can be weak, but this is good article - not a bad blast from the past. |

Good article gortiz. It's kinda funny how nobody remembers any of that early trouble.

It's kinda nice to read somthing like with some of the "trouble" we have had this offseason. It shows that Gibbs can deal with this type of situation and still power out of it. I just hope this season can be just a little of what 91' was.

If I remember right that summer after one preseason game, Gibbs was notified by local sports reporter Steve Buckhantz that Playboy magazine had picked them to do really well that season and Gibbs went ballistic "Playboy, who the hell is Playboy?! What do they know about football?" Pretty funny stuff

Re: Camp Old School: 1991, Team Turmoil
Great article. The 1991-92 season is a perfect example of Gibbs' ideal team. All of the guys on the team were team players and hard workers.
According to a website that statistically breaks down the best teams of all time (based on schedule difficulty and wins/losses record), the '91 'Skins were the second best team ever (behind the '85 Bears). The schedule was extremely tough that year yet the 'Skins won by an average of sixteen points per regular season game and none of the postseason contests were even close. And that team had a bunch of old veterans and nobodys who did their job well.

Great post! This one brought back a lot of memories. I remember listening to that season opening game against Detroit on the radio. I was painting my parents' house and didn't have a TV but brought my radio just to listen. After that game, I just had this feeling that we were going all the way to the SuperBowl that year.
A write-up like this really puts me in an optimistic mood for the coming season... |

That's a wonderful article! Just yesterday on ESPN Classic, they had the highlights from the Redskins-Dolphins Super Bowl in '82. My fiancée had called me on the phone, and I have to say I wasn't paying much attention to her....lol!!!
