Player to keep an eye on!

While at the game you get a MUCH different perspective. I watched a safety that got a lot of playtime, #32, Omar Stoutmire. He almost stopped one TD and made a hell of a break on the ball. Didn't QUITE break it up but it was close. I was overall just impressed with his play, especially as a 3rd stringer.

Daseal:

Just to prove to you that I have not "gone soft", let me take what you said and look at it from a different perspective. I did not see much of Stoutmire so you had to have seen more than I.

HOW-EVAH:

If he got "a hell of a break on the ball" and still "didn't QUITE break it up", that is not good news. When you get a hell of a break on the ball, you need to make the play that time around; because if you don't make it under those conditions, it might just be that you aren't fast enough to get where you need to be in the NFL.

Just saying...

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

i also noticed #32 flying all over the place, he was quite impressive. i'm going to this friday's game against the steelers so i'll get to see him live, hopefully he has another good outing along with the rest of the players.

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

Stoutmire was a decent 2nd string Safety for the Giants. He was beaten out by the Gibril Wilson and Curtis Deloach from Hampton University. He may make the team. I haven't heard too much about Greg William's man Pearson Prioleau at Safety. Hopefully someone will step up in the game against the Steelers.

I thought I saw Prioleau playing quite a bit yesterday and he looked good, much better than the week before

pearson has been great on special teams. Not quite as good as thrash, but close.

daseal i'm suprised about the positive way you are looking at these guys. as for omar and pierson, i think both are playing really well. pierson is probably gonna make the team because he can be a great backup safety, and he can perform well on special teams.

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

Prioleau is in. WIlliams sees him as a guy who can play Safety and hit. He is also a standout on special teams and saved a big punt return from happening in the first game. Omar did get more of a look in the Bengal game but will really need to step up even more to make the squad with the depth we have now.

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

I thought signing Stoutmire was a good pick up but then i saw him at the Ravens scrimmage and I didn't even think he would make the team. He got burned big a few times and scored on. I didn't get to see the game Friday but I am glad to hear he played well. Hopefully it was just a matter of learning the system better.

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

I've watched these two games probably more than all of you put together. Stoutmire will make the team and to reiterate what Greg Williams says, 'Everyone is a starter who makes the team'.

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

Prioleau has played better, is more versatile and is well known to Williams. This is why he'll be around come the first game.

Anyone noticed Garnell Wilds 'steppin' up' and Jimoh 'steppin' back'?

Re: Player to keep an eye on!

What I'm not sure about is the speed that Omar possesses. If he can run like close to the speed of a corner, Williams could keep him for his versatility in some packages.

Jimoh still has trouble against first string coverage. With the additions to special teams, that part of his game won't get him on the roster this year.

Absolutely, these are the gutwrenching moments in the preseason. When one player obviously is not up to par, and another is fighting like hell to go up in the depth chart. Wilds looks like he's hungry and Jimoh looks like burnt toast.
