I was at work thinking today. Does anyoen think we could get a low second rounder if we traded them Garnder and Trotter? I was actually thinking that it would be a real possibility ( I was thinking Chargers, but I wouldnt go that low)

I doubt that either Gardner or Trotter is an essential ingredient in "Martyball". So I'd discount these guys being shipped to SD for any purpose other than to facilitate a much more complicated trade scenario.

I don't know about Trotter but Marty did draft Gardner and he seems to fit that "move the chains" receiver mold that the Chargers could use

I think if we play our cards right we can get a third round for gardner. Personally i would take that if i could get it. Considering the fact that we are overloaded at WR and his contract is expiring, we make me take the deal. I heard once that the 49ers offered a 3rd and 7th rounder for him. I would have taken that deal.

I don't mean to constantly underestimate the trade value of our players, but I try to be realistic. Trotter and Gardner together as some kind of trade package would likely get us no better than a 3rd rounder, and that may even be pushing it.

Not only that, the Redskins have already said publicly that they are allowing Trotter to seek employment elsewhere. What could we honestly expect for a player that everyone knows we don't want anyway?

Like Beems said, Trotter will probably have to be released after June 1, who is going to trade for someone that is definitely going to be cut anyway??

Who knows? I remember reading an article several days ago saying that the Skins were considering trading "players" (plural). Maybe Gardner, Trotter, and others are being packaged as part of some draft day deal.

Ahhhhhhhh, the intrigue of it all.

Will someone explian to me what sense it makes to get rid of Gardner for a third round pick??? He has two years left of minimal salary hits. Last year we almost traded him for T.O. Id rather have him than a 3rd round pick anyday. If he has a good year this year his value will only go up. Hes more proven than the other receivers that could play number and should be beaten out for the job, not traded for a late pick.

I agree. Gardner still has alot of potential and he would be a nice fit to Gibb's offense. I think people are going to be surprised when they find out how good our passing game is. Remember Gibbs put up nice numbers in 87 and 91..... especially in the passing yards and TD's. We have great depth at WR and it's a great advantage. And you know coach Gibbs like to have depth.

Oh yeah....almost forgot. I don't think anyone wants Trotter anymore. I hope I'm wrong....but we all know he hasn't proved anything here in DC.

Trotter is a solid middle linebacker, he didnt give up big plays and would always make the tackle. He was played as a roaming linebacker, not a blitzer. He head the team in tackles and did what he was supposed to. I dont care if they get rid of him, I think were going to run two lbs most of the time anyways, but I dont think hes a subpar player by any means, and hes only 26. The skins should have been more suddle about it to create interest.

I agree the skins shouldn't have pretty much blurted out that he wasnt gonna be playing for us anymore, but I have to disagree with the statement that he didn't give up big plays. the important one that comes to mind was when he let Stephen Davis slip out the backfield and get that huge pass and run against the Panthers and it was late in the game if I remember right 2. And was it Arrington or Trotter who gave up the big gain in overtime against the Giants cuz I'm not sure which of the two blew it on that one? Trotter definitely isn't a coverage LB and looked very confused and out of place when he tried to be this past year. but if used correctly like he was in Philli, he could wreak havok in the backfield.

At most, we'll get a third for gardner due to a deep WR draft. As for Trotter, no one would offer more than a 4th or 5th round draft pick. He hasnt prooved he can play on a probowl level for 2 years, he's making probowl money, and he's coming back from a torn ACL

Arrington was the one who let the fullback out against the giants, and we played carolina in pre-season, so that wasn't that big of a deal.
