Patriots cut Morton

New England Patriots: The team released kick returner Chad Morton, who was on the physically unable to perform list, and six other players.

Morton was limited to six games last season by ligament damage in his right knee and did not re-sign with the Washington Redskins, where he spent two seasons. In 2003, he had career highs of 48 carries for 216 yards and also returned 44 kickoffs for an average of 23.4 yards and one touchdown in Washington.

Also cut were wide receiver Jason Anderson, placekicker Robbie Gould, offensive guard Ryan Krug, defensive lineman Ifo Pili, cornerback Hank Poteat and defensive lineman Santonio Thomas.

Not to be a dick but I don't think this is applies to the skins. Chad Morton has no place on our team as of now.

Re: Patriots cut Morton

Because it hasn't been long since he was cut by the Redskins, and I'll admit that I am curious about how well some of our former Redskins are doing. Unfortunately for Chad Morton, I don't see him around the league too much longer. I think the injuries are getting the best of him now.

Well so much for this I guess

"3. I think whoever signs Chad Morton is going to get a player who helps that team win two extra games this year. Two! Stop arguing over a few signing-bonus bucks. Morton will be one of the five most electric return men in the game."-Peter King

I think it was Paintrain who had initially posted this quote in a thread a while back, so props to him for originally bringing it to our attention

Re: Patriots cut Morton

We should create an archive section for all the top stupid quotes for the year and revisit them as the year progresses.

I would love to see how many writers do 180's without even mentioning that they blew it earlier.

Thanks for the shout out TAFKAS... I'd like to thank all the tubby ignorant sportswriters for making this acknowledgement possible and I look forward to many more times that we can point out their absurd comments regarding the Redskins and their personnel moves..

I actually don't hate King. Unlike Dr. Z and Len Pastabelly, he doesn't "have it out for us." He adores Gibbs and never says anything harsh about him. Regardless of how (in)accurate Peter King is in his prognostications, he's pretty objective and doesn't seem to have a gripe with any team in particular.

Re: Patriots cut Morton

Matty, hope you don't mind but I took off the Patriots logo from your post. I felt kind of weird seeing that logo on our homepage.

Re: Patriots cut Morton

I wanted him to do well, i don't like this.......well i would like him to do better than other former redskins.

Not that i don't like pierce or smoot but i would really like it if they had worse years than last year so people would see that part of their success was just being on our D
