Antonio Brown

Wow.

By my (admittedly 5 drink) count, he had 4 drops. That's a bad half season.

Did Antonio Brown play himself out of a job tonight?

Re: Antonio Brown

I think he might have played himself out of a regular spot in the WR rotation, but not necessarily a job. I'm thinking Moss, Patten, Thrash, and actually Dyson. Yeah, I think Dyson did ok today, well enough to be receiver #4.

And my main man Jimmy Farris had quite a game as well

I found it pretty telling that they kept going back to Brown, as if to say "Hey you're part of this team so we're not giving up on you"

Re: Antonio Brown

NO! he's our return guy. He had one bad night, but we dont want to risk moss as a return man and I think brown is pretty dangerous.

Brown has potential as a special teamer, but I now understand why the Bills let him go.

Re: Antonio Brown

Brown is to the WR position, what Ade is to the DB, but both are valuable ST players.

Too bad we have to waste a roster spot on someone who can't catch the ball.

Re: Antonio Brown

Brown will make this team no doubt in my mind, Gibbs really loves the guy, he had 1 bad night, I saw 1 of his drops [missed the game] which he blew by the coverage and was wide open you have to stick with a player with that kind of ability, I think he will come around, I also don't believe he was being looked at as a #3 WR either, but I do believe Gibbs has plans for him just not as an every down type player, besides he has to stay somewhat fresh to return kicks

Farris had 2 nice catches that I saw but he wasen't running by anyone either, still nice job by him I doubt he makes the roster though.

brown had a drop for a td a few games ago. actually i think he's had a drop every game.

i dont think he is a great special teams player.

i think its going to come down to jacobs or brown. farris has been playing well...

The guy has the hands of a bricklayer but the legs of a cheetah. As long as he's only returning kicks, I'm fine with it.

Which is known as "the Ade Jimoh argument". Unfortunately, we have to insert Ade at DB occasionally, and the other team ends up burning him for a gain.

If Brown has kept his position, he has also taken someone else's, because if he was going to be the 5th receiever, we need 6.

Re: Antonio Brown

We will keep both Jacobs and Brown, until Jacobs gets back Brown or Dyson will be our 4th WR, with Brown handleing all return duties...

As Dick Vermeil once said: "I can teach a guy to catch a ball, I can't teach speed."

While Browns drops were bad and had me sobbing myself to sleep last night, let's not cut him yet. At least he was getting open.

Re: Antonio Brown

Definitely. I agree with everyon who said that one bad night does not warrant a cut. I'm amused as how many people are calling for his head after these drops. I GUARANTEE he'll break at least 2-3 TDs this year in kickoff returns. I'm disappointed in last night because he had one SURE touchdown hit him in the facemask. It was an experiment in the beginning so it's not like we KNEW he was going to be a WR. He's getting separation, getting open, and thus far I don't think (even prior to tonight) that we would see him in any more packages than a 3/4 WR set.

Re: Antonio Brown

You don't use your starting WR's to return kick-offs & punts. That's just asking for trouble. Brown has done a very good job return punts & kick-offs. I especially was impressed with his ability to make people miss & grab that extra 3+ yards.

Remember, Ramsey was not behind center, so lets not blame Brown 100%. Campbell played pretty sloppy against the 2nd stringers & Brunell probably was not going at 100%. So lets just scratch this game off as just a scrimmage.

Brown is still my guy to make the roster.

I'm giving him my season pass

Re: Antonio Brown

Well I guess we saw why Brown hasn't caught on anywhere else as a WR, his hands need serious work.

That being said, his job isn't in jeopardy. He's our return guy, he's not going anywhere.
