Clayton Preview: Skins vs. Cowboys

5. Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys | Scouting report
The Cowboys looked good against the Chargers in their opener. Drew Bledsoe showed great leadership at quarterback and came up with enough big plays to beat a good Chargers defense. Dallas' new 3-4 defense made some mistakes but it's going to be solid. Trying to stop the Redskins running offense will be a big challenge. The Redskins' offensive line looks great, although there has to be concern about right tackle Jon Jansen's thumbs. Both of his hands are in casts because of two broken thumbs. At least he won't be called for holding -- that's impossible with two casts. The switch to Mark Brunell at quarterback should also help. Brunell looks more in command running around the pocket than a year ago. He had hamstring problems a year ago and just looked old. Patrick Ramsey made too many mistakes. With a good defense and a good running game, the Redskins don't want the quarterback to make mistakes. If Brunell can stay away from interceptions, he and the Redskins have a chance.

Finally some love for once.

I was going to post this yesterday. I was surprised to see that, but John Clayton usually shows us love.

I'm praying everyday that we win Monday. Go Skins!

This offense has got to catch fire one of these days. Please let it be on Monday night in Dallas. Maybe Sean Taylor can join Lavar in the prestigious Cowboy QB Early Retirment Club. Bye the way I know Mark Brunell has been in some big games in his career, but this one gives him the chance to begin writing that better than fiction ending to a really good career. I think I might be living in crazyland, but I don't care I love it!

I realy got a bad feeling about this game I think we are focusing way to much on this one game when there is so much of the season left the Dallas Cowboy did not play that bad of a game, to be able to go in San Diego and beat a team that was 12-4 last year was not an easy feat, we all no that playing on the road on a Monday night in Dallas is going to be tough. thats why this game worries me

Who says we can't roll in there and do the same thing? Maybe even kick their ass worse!

I agree.....I have a very bad feeling that we are going to get embarrassed. I so hope that I am wrong though.

Whose focusing to much on this game the fans or the team, last time I checked it could mean a less if the fans focused in on this game, but highly doubtful that the skins are going to be unprepared for another game because they focus is on this game, it is important though especially under the circumstances QB change and going into the bye-week. Maybe I am misreading this, but like John Clayton explained it is pretty accurate in how this game may unfold. It is going to depend heavily on our running game, hopefully Brunell can keep them out of the box, opening it up I don't think is going to require Brunell to go down field 30 and 40 yards that often just the ten to twnety range will work. I think Gibbs will adjust the play calling this year to do just that. Our line can dominate this year along with Portis and Betts if we can keep the men out the box. The Cowterds do not impress me and on any given Sunday a team can contend and upset if you want to call it that when like the Cowboys drives kept alive by penalties and 24 points scored on your D and could have easily been 31. We should know with our own penalties killing us in numerous games how they can turn a game even if we are better and outplay another team set aside penalties and turnovers.

Shockingly, that by far the best endorsement the team has recieved. I do think it is fairly accurate. However, I don't think Bledsoe is as good as being billed. Hurry him around a bit, and he throws the rock to the wrong color on a regular basis. I think our Offense will be better than billed and improving.

Wow, makes sense.

Go figure.

If, if, if,................If Brunell would play like he used to we would win. Well it ain't happenning. I was excited when we got Brunell and thought we could win with his past games, but it is just that his past. Brunell is past his game.

Re: Clayton Preview: Skins vs. Cowboys

It's going to be interesting, people have Brunell in command of the offense, and even though Brunell himself has stated there was nothing wrong with his hammy in the games to come after the Giant game, as well as he stated he didn't have to rehab his hammy at all, and played his best game of the year against dallas the following week of his injury, everybody is buying into the Gibbs excuse.

I will say it again 70 yards and 3 field goals in almost 3 quarters of play, and it's the 5th time in 6 games he's failed to break the 100 yard mark, but were going to see a brand new Brunell this week? We better hope we can win this game on the ground, because if dallas stacks the line and takes the run away we are in big trouble, I am also curious to see if Parcells lines up Ware on the left side to take advantage of Jansen's thumbs and go after Brunell from his blindside?
