Portis

I love the interview on Redskins.com with CP. I admire his knowledge of the game and his understanding of his role on the team. I think we got the better end of the trade because CP is good for morale, has a great attitude and can break open a game. I am looking forward to him having a stellar afternoon this Sunday. Plus his glasses are groovy, man.

Dude, that's why I said "I look forward to it"... meaning...I think he can and WILL be a gamebreaker. He has gamebreaker talent and you can't hold that down for long.

Unless you're Michael Westbrook.

Re: Portis

Just something to note, he's on pace for 1400+ yards this year, and he's just getting started. I think as the line continues to come together Portis will only get better.

Dont Get Me Wrong, I Love Portis, But We Havent Seen The "gamebreaking" Runs We Saw In Denver.and I Realize That This Is A Different Scheme And Opposing Defenses Say They Know When We Are Going To Run ,but Other Than His First Carry As A Redskin, He Really Hasn't Lived Up To His Huge Contract. Down In San Deigo, Tomlinson Has A Td In Something Like 18 Straight Games. Portis Doesnt Have One Yet This Year. He Really Hasnt Showed Me Much Since He Came To Dc.

i know what you are saying but some of that falls on the offense as a whole. The 8 in the box and such. We as a team haven't looked good but Portis has been playing fine this year. I actually love how we are splitting the running up more this year because it keeps him healthy and ready to go. He hasn't been selfish, he has done what is asked of him and i think few could do it better. I think we will see more offensive production from him soon but look at some of the teams he is gonna play this year. Denver's run defense is brutal and he might not get 100 yards but we all know he is gonna run into that pile and carry it as far as he can

Re: Portis

I Still Do Think Portis Is A Good Back. And I Still Do Believe He Will Get His 1000 Yards And Be A Very Good Option At Rb For Years To Come ,but He Needs To Score Tds.its Just That Simple.dont You Think That During Gibbs First Tenure As The Skins Coach Other Teams Were Stacking 8 Or 9 In The Box???. We Still Were Able To Punch It In On The Ground.and I Do Think Your Right Bigskinsbauer About The Offense As A Whole, But Come On Portis We Want Some Tds.NOW

In Gibbs first tenure other teams really could not afford to stack 8 or 9 in the box against us. Why? Because Gibbs would burn them with Monk, Sanders, Clark, Dider, and the list could go on. Teams knew better to do that against us.

Until Brunell can burn teams with Moss, Patten, and Cooley they will still stack the box because they know what Portis can do and what Brunell can not do...

Also you compare CP to LT, which I can see similarities. But then you say that Portis is not worth his contract, well who would you like to have? I mean remember when Gibbs came in T. Candidate was our starting RB, and with the second round pick we gave up for CP Denver got T. Bell and look at how well he is doing this year. Some say well we could have possibily got E. James or S. Alexander which may be true, but look at how many years they have been in the league and how old they already are, remember Portis just turned like 24 years old he is still young yet.

His first tenure we were getting in the red zone alot more I would think. Defenses were totally different with caliber players, schemes, run blitzes they are stacking the box against Portis and that is why those passes to Royal, Cooley, and Sellers in the flat are open in the flat they commit to the middle and get beat outside. Portis will come as other teams game plan to beat the skins and not Portis and the running game. Portis said it best 4-0 is better than his stats and that is a good attitude instead of TO screaming because he only gets 1 or 2 balls thrown to him. No back could be doing any better with the piles Clinton has been running into and solid enough to open up our passing game more. He has had 1 100 yard rushing game and totaled over 100 last week with rushing and passing. I would say solid especially as much as him and Betts are rotating out to keep our running game fresh. If Clinto kept those rushes he would have 3 100 yard games, but they not the coaches are setting up the rotation pretty much and really team oriented and not selfish.

Re: Portis

I think Portis will be super fired-up to play against his old team. It will be fun to see o-line fire off into denver's d-line. Also, I will love to see chump bailey get plowed-over by pulling behemoths. I always thought that champ was over rated. Just prove me wright Portis and score baby score!

If the team is winning who cares about personal stats?

Good point. The more participation from Cooley, Thrash, Betts, Cartwright and Royal will deflect attention and defensive schemes to prevent CP's successful running game.
