LaVar
When I was watching that so called game on Sunday I didn't notice how many time Arrington actually made it into the game. Does anyone know if they're going to swallow their pride and increase his playing time or are they going to continue to just put him in sparingly? After the 49ers (I know they suck) game I was extremely excited and thought that he would get increased playing time, I guess I was wrong. Anyone know anything more about the situation?

Re: LaVar
First off, welcome to the board.
I think I remembered reading that he was in for all of the 3-4 formations (18 plays I believe). If memory serves, I think he was in for around 35 (out of 78) plays total. I definitely think that he will play in 50+% of the plays this week, and his role will only expand in coming weeks.

Arrington Lauded Gibbs again praised the play of linebacker LaVar Arrington, who was with the starting unit for a good portion of the second half Sunday and may have regained his starting position ahead of Warrick Holdman. "His heart's in it, he's going after it," Gibbs said of Arrington. "We'll see where it leads." . . .

Re: LaVar
After Holdman got blown up in the running game and was benched against the Giants, I think it's looking very likely that Arrington will finally regain his starting job this week.

Re: LaVar
Let's hope so! Lavar needs more time on the field to get things togther. This could be a big game for him & us.

Re: LaVar
We blitz the OLB's far too often. That's why those huge running lanes open up. We don't have anyone on the D Line that can play, short of Griffin. We bring the linebackers and if the play doesn't go right at them, they're basically taken out of it. So that leaves safeties and Sean Taylor overplays a lot of runs. It's a lot of things leading to big gains. Not the least of which is that we blitz all the time because we can't a pass rush from our front 4.

Re: LaVar
From what I heard on Sirius there is a "very good" chance that LaVar Arrington will replace Holdman as the starter on Sunday.

Re: LaVar
no griffin + no noble = crap run-stopping Dline (and no one outside griffin has any ability to rush either). Wynn is average, daniels is close, but griffin is the ONLY guy I wouldn't want replaced if someone became available.

I would never replace Salavea'a. He is a great run stopper. We need him healthy. But we also need depth because you can't expect to succeed with only 2 good DTs, and we miss Noble in that respect. |
