Must win game

In my opinion, this Sunday is definitely a must win game for the Skins. If we fall two games behind the division leader, I don't think we are good enough to regroup. With TO more than likely out, and a beat up McNabb, if we don't beat the Eagles in our house Sunday night, we definitely won't in Philly. Two things Id like to see from the offense: One, its way past time to get another receiver involved. Moss has to be drawing double coverage now, and it seems like Brunnell checks down from Moss right to Cooley, rarely utilizing his other WR. Maybe Patten just isn't that good, and maybe Brunnell just doesn't look for him, I don't know. Two, I sure would like to see Nemo run the ball between the tackles. Im ready to run over people, not around them.

Tom Brady found ways to get the ball to David Patten, so I'm willing to bet the reason he is under utilized is not because of lack of ability. And unless Portis or Betts is out for the game, you won't see Nemo.

Re: Must win game

Patten spoke out this week that he's frustrated with his role, I thought it was kinda funny coming from a guy who dropped a sure 1st down on a 3rd and 14 play in the Giants game.

Eh, everyone dropped balls. I'm finding it hard to blame anyone for that loss outside of the coaches. Bottom line, they didn't get the team ready to play. The Skins came out flat and never got started. They weren't prepared. Ditka has said a million times that if you come out and lose 27 - 14, that's probably your team, but when you come out and lose 20 - 0 that's on the coach. He said he new his team wasn't ready to play if that happened and that was his fault.

Exactly. Put up or shut up. Bad timing for a media whine session.

I think you have to take media quotes with a large pinch of salt. If a reporter asked Patten "Are you frustrated that you aren't making a bigger contribution in terms of catches?", you could hardly criticise him for saying yes.

Good point Davy - something I think we have to remember whenever we read media reports and interviews. An innocuous answer to a journalist's question can suddenly turn into a 5000 word essay.

Re: Must win game

I don't think we can place all the blame on the coaches. If the players needed extra motivation to get fired up for a division game with 1st place on the line, something is seriously wrong.

There was definitely a lot of blame to go around for last week, starting with the coaches on down. Let's face it, the execution was piss poor with all the drops and penalties. That goes on the players.

The Skins got punched in the mouth right off the bat with Tiki's big opening run and they never picked themselves up off the mat.

Yes everyone dropped balls, but everyone wasn't complaining in the media about their role. Patten should stay quiet and make those tough 3rd down catches and maybe more balls would come his way.

Good point. I can't say it was all on the coaches, but the team didn't look prepared. I don't know who to blame, but this was definitely a team effort. Everyone played bad. I'm not saying Patten wasn't out of line, he was definitely speaking out of turn and should just catch the ball. I just think that people on the team, just like here people are gonna have bad things to say after a game like that.

Re: Must win game

The games I have seen, Brunell appears to survey the entire field as time permits. It does not look as if he locks up on one guy. By all appearances, He does his check down, and toss's the ball away when nobody is open. I have no complaints with that. Without further information, it seems Patten is not getting the necessary seperation he needs. I have also noticed, frequently does Moss get very open. I would think it's Pattens problem.
Lets face it, last week Brunell would have thrown it to me if I was open.

This is an absolute must win game for the skins. I cant think of a bigger game in the last few years than this one.

Re: Must win game

Let's face it guys, it has just been a bad week. If the Skins play better this week and win, we will all be forgetting about this week. They can't play this next game soon enough for me and I am sure for the players as well. It is almost too bad it is not a 1pm start instead of an 8:30pm. That is another 7:30 hours to dwell on last week that we nor the players need!

I'm glad this game is an 8pm game. Hopefully I'll be home from the beach in time to watch the game.
