with Chris Clemons on IR, using Mccune as a pass rusher?

I remember in the offseason, when we drafted Mccune in the 5th round, I kept hearing about how in the combine, this guy was incredibly fast for a LB, and could bench press and squat some ludacrious amount of weights, but the concern was that he was already 26 and may not be able to pick up the details of a NFL defense. With all that in mind, couldn't he be used like Chris Clemons, as a speedy, but powerful 3rd down pass rush specialist. His combine numbers indicate he has the speed to get around OLs, the power to push through a tackle, and we don't have to worry about a Rookie blowing an assignment.

It will be interesting to see how Gregg Williams replaces Clemons, since he made some key sacks and hurries this season. I remember he made Gallery look like a fool many times in the Oakland game, most memorably when he redirected Kerry Collins' hand in the Oakland game, which led to Lemar Marshall's INT Return. He also caused some key hurries in the 2nd Cowboys game. It seemed he was becoming a more complete pass rusher and using power to push back tackles, rather than always using his speed to get around them. I hope he comes back in full form next year.

I would like to see McCune come in and use his physical gifts to be a great linebacker... gibbs said when we put him on the practice squad that he had big plans for him... maybe its time to put those plans into action.

I'm not sure if Lavar is going to see much playing time after his latest media sessions...

WTF? Sorry but that is moronic! You think Gibbs going to cut his nose to spite his face? Lavar will play as much as he has been because he helps the defense. I am tired of this crap about Lavar. If you think Gibbs sits a guy who can help the team simply because he made some statements then you are dumb. Gibbs will sit a guy when he becomes a detriment to the on-field play. Lavar could hardly be contrued as to have affected the on-field play. Sitting him would only inflame the situation anyways.

Hey ass... lets not resort to name calling... Gibbs looked pissed when the whole thing came to his attention, and I am a huge Lavar fan, but when he was running his mouth during the season on the radio... he didn't play. When he shut up and talked about the next game's preparations... he played.

If you noticed I didnt say he wouldnt play... I just said I wasn't sure... as you are not sure either.... so make sure you have a comprehensive grasp of the context of the one sentence I typed before you go off calling me moronic and dumb.

Thank you.

What?

Where did I assert that you said he wouldn't play?

My comments were in response to your assertion that Gibbs could not play Lavar because he was upset that Lavar made some controversial statements. Where did I lose the context on that one skippy? That is exactly what you said.

To me, and probably many others, that thought pattern is simply dumb and moronic. Sorry but if it looks like a duck...

And your assertion as to why Lavar didn't play earlier is spot off. Lavar admitted he was wrong during the situation and probably wasn't 100% healthy and ready mentally to contribute. You immediately place yourself in the dumb and moronic group of people on this site who for months have asserted that Gibbs would ever decide whether to play or not play a guy based on anything but his on-field production. I can't even grasp why people would think this about him but they do and it is dumb and moronic.

I don't think McCune could really contribute at this point, could he?

I mean, would GW allow him to play so early?

LaVar should definitely play a hell of alot more now that Clemons is on the IR. Like it was said previously, teams have to account for him at all times and that along will probably produce some sacks, which leads to hurries, which leads to turnover and all that equals is a win for us and a trip to the playoffs.

I would like to see McCune in as a designated pass rusher. He has been active the last couple of games.

that is why i thought it was so wierd because clemons plays passing downs. Lavar sits on basically all 3rd downs and with clemons out lavar would be a true starter again. I don't see why he would say stuff now.
