Re: The Special Teams Problem
I knew his leaving would hurt us, just not this bad. Was really sad to see him go especially when it seemed he wanted to stay but felt the team slighted him in negotiations.

Count me as another long term fan who is now just apathetic... We've got a serious problem when the majority of core fans on the Warpath project a loss to a mediocre Eagles team. Hope somebody is paying attention. |

Re: The Special Teams Problem
We had no money and Arizona was promising him more playing time on D.

Re: The Special Teams Problem
Nick Williams looks good for sure, but putting dudes back there seems like poison for us. Dudes who show potential get back there in a live season situation and just blow.
I am starting to wonder if that has less to do with the player running back the kicks and more to do with the other special teams players who seem to do nothing right, ever. (I'm saying, they probably can't block)

Re: The Special Teams Problem
Not only is he missed on ST but also as Fletcher's backup. Funny thing is when I complained that the Redskins didn't resign him I was told he's just another Specials Team player. How did this turn out? They could have found a way to keep him.

Re: The Special Teams Problem
I'm hoping the Redskins don't get stupid and release him during the off-season. He will definitely go somewhere else and shine. I could also see him developing into a Welker type of receiver. Probably nowhere near as good, but ability wise; small and fast.

Hey...that's not a bad idea but you know we'd end up roughing the punter every time. Penalties are killing us. Quote:
NE will replace the always-injured Amendola with him and he'll end up being Brady's next Wes Welker.

Re: The Special Teams Problem
the only thing that worries me about nick williams as a returner is his speed . . . he as clocked at 4.62 coming out of college and for someone as small as him that is very slow . . . niles paul is a 4.4 guy and he seems to slow out there . . . granted williams is much quicker than paul, but will also go down far easier as he is far smaller . . .

But he can't do anything unless he is given the chance. You'd think that with our ST's being as bad as they are, that the coaches might want to try someone different as a punt returner. I just hope they give Nick a try against the Eagles.

Re: The Special Teams Problem
Speed is overrated especially on returns. It's more about vision and quickness.
