Here's a poll to bring back in about 6 months for review.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
"In Gibbs I Trust" when it comes down to football.
He sees all, he knows all when it comes down to this team. If he benched Portis for no reason "WE" see I would still trust his intentions and ability to win. He's the Golden Coach with the Golden Touch. period peace mike

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
Simple question - not a simple answer.
I trust Gibbs to make the decisions that he feels are best to elevate this franchise to its former glory. Therefore, I vote yes. However, my fear is that there is now an element of distrust on the team. Every member of that starting offense was told that the franchise had faith in Patrick Ramsey - and the history of faith in a starting quarterback lasts longer than 19 minutes (see Brunell, Mark - 2004). Those players who made a bond with Ramsey based on the stated faith in Ramsey have reason to question the things that come out of their coach's mouth now.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
Here's my short-term reason: we really don't have a good QB. We're gonna win with D and the run, so turnovers and 3rd down efficiency are what matter. In that--going by preseason and yesterday, not by 2004--Brunnell appears to have the edge. Gibbs sees the QBs everyday, so I'll trust him on this.
Long-term reason: he switched QBs a lot before, and won. He feels more comfortable with Brunnell, and his gut-feelings about QBs have been reliable in the past. ABout all this "Gibbs lied" stuff: He never said Ramsey is my starter, whatever he does out on the field. He also said: committ TOs and you wont play. He gave Ramsey the vast majority of play with the first-stringers, and the majority of snaps in practice. Then Ramsey did indeed start the first game, despite having been outplayed by Brunnell in preseason. Then he comes out and throws an INT and fumbles twice. Ramsey didn't step up and remove the doubts. Yeah, I know, the pressure was on him, peolple lacked condfidence in him, etc. BUt this is the NFL. You have to be able to handle just this sort of pressure. So I trust GIbbs even in the face of this quick switch. The timing of the switch was awkward, but after wrestling with it and consulting his coaches, he felt that it was right. It was a tough decision, and it may fail. He stepped up and did what he thought would be best for the team, and admitted in wouldn't be popular. It may be his downfall. But taking this sort of risk is what leadership is about. It's not a popularity contest. I trust Gibbs.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I voted no, I don't believe he honored his word in giving [what everyone knew he said] Ramsey the starters job, I believe he paid lip service to him all the while looking for any excuse to get the teachers pet back on the field, if Brunell was doing something spectacular last year, or this, it would be another story, but he hasen't, what was so great about his preseason? Everyone looks at it being great, comparitivly to what he did last year, yes, which was nothing.
Did Gibbs make Ramsey his starter? Yes. Did he back him like other QB's he's had? Absolutly not! Gibbs himself has stated in the past that perhaps his loyalty to his starters may be a little extreme, well not in Patricks case, which tells me he really in his heart did not keep his word, all he did is pay lip service to buy Brunell some time and let the memory of one of the worst QB performances and rating's through the first 9 games in NFL history soften a bit to get his boy back on the field and justify a 42 million dollar blunder which is his fault, and his fault alone! |

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I voted yes. But its by far the most laxadazical yes I could have given. I'm saying yes purley based on what he did in the past, but his time with that is running out really, really quick with me.
He did say Ramsey was going to be the guy, and lied. So I dont know.
