Here's why "character" counts...
According to a report in the Philly papers, Darnerian McCants told reporters that he "studies Terrell Owens every day" so that he (McCants) can learn how to adjust to life in the NFL.
Excuse me, the Eagles have a "Terrell-Owens-in-training"? Can they be happy about that? Maybe it's best he didn't stay here. If he selected Sean Taylor as his "mentor"/"role model" here, he might have spent stretches of time in the cutody of the gendarmes .

TO may be a headcase, but he has a great work ethic. So if DM is studying him for that fine, but if he's picking his brain regarding off the field stuff like contracts, watch out! LOL
I don't think we have anything to worry about, DM isn't the next TO... not even close. |

Also, TO is breaking into the Atlanta music scene, and we all know that DMac is a MUSICIAN! lol.
Dmac can help the iggles--too bad he didn't like to practice for us. Gibbs has the audacity to ask his players to try hard even in practice...another sign that the game has "passed him by."

Re: Here's why "character" counts...
It is hard to remember that TO was once the junior WR to Jerry Rice. Rice had perhaps the greatest work ethic in the NFL. Steve Young likes to tell the story how one day during practice that Rice started running every play all the way to the endzone, even the ones where he never saw the ball. At first the rest of the team would have to wait for him to run back to start the next play, pretty soon every player was running every play out. Good work ethic is contagious. Although having said that I don't think that TO is worth the trouble he makes.

TO is a great player, he is in top flight shape, he produces, he is a gamer, he has superior natural ability unfortunately his middle name is "CANCER". This guy's is such a terd we still wouldn't want him on our team inspite of the aforementioned goodness.

Re: Here's why "character" counts...
I think the whole situation with TO is blown out of proportion by the media. TO wants to be payed like a top 10 reciever, because he is a top ten reciever. It' s not just a cowencidence (can't spell) that the eagles have almost the most cap room in the NFL, they are known for being stengy with their money. They probraly told the guy to sign the first deal and the next year they would adjust it and when next year came they didn't do it.
AS for McCants studying TO we all know it about on field stuff, not off feild come on know be real

It is a testament to the salesmanship of Drew Rosenhaus that Owens isn't universally panned for claiming he is vastly underpaid. At the time he negotiated and signed his deal, Owens was the third highest paid receiver in the league. Since new deals have been signed, he averages 5th highest over three years.
