being 22-23 does not excuse a professional athlete from not being 100% committed to being the very best player he can be.

in the offseason or only the night after a game could i understand and justify it ... but in training camp? when you havent proven yourself to be a contributing player or teammate others can rely upon?

certainly not the end of the world but i want 52 players with a drive to excel, to eat sleep and shit football when it is football season .... and guess what?

its football season. time to put your hard hat on and earn that money and fame.

show your commitment or i will show you the GD door.

give me 52 RG3s and London Fletchers and I will show you an over-achieving team with limitless potential.
You're never ever going to have 52 RG3's and London Fletcher's on any roster. You're always going to have few guys that party. Come Sunday night after a game, win or a loss, guys are going to let their hair down. Hell The Hogs would pound beers after practice in a shed.

As to your question, IMO way higher than 30%.
I always wondered why the Shanahan's never tried to develop Morris in that area. Terrible coaching!

Shanny's offense just didn't throw to backs much, did he ever have a back that caught many passes?

Given the fact we're talking about young guys straight out of college and how more common and accepted it's becoming, I'd say the % is higher than the rest of society.

Well, whenever I took a job that required me to do drug testing, I stopped smoking weed until I was at one that didn't have drug testing. It's not about being perfect or making mistakes. It's about being smart and know when you can and can't do things, and the consequences involved if you so choose to do them.

In the ordinary world, those guys are fired point blank for failing a drug test. There are no 3-4 chances to fall back on. These guys have been sheltered their whole life, and allowed to do what they want (pretty much) as long as they played good.

I have no sympathy for idiots that don't recognize the type of opportunity they have that only very few could even dream of.

Maybe he does make the team, maybe he doesn't. Generally a low round pick has slim chances of making the squad. Good thing for him our CBs suck. (beyond Amerson/Hall)

I think most 5th rounders make their respective teams the first year barring a horrible ota/training camp. I don't think he falls into that category at all.

He was the second pick in round 4. He has been impressing coaches during camp, he is going to make the team.

Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen, and Joey T. take the ALS challenge (Snyder donates $10K to the ALS foundation):

Snyder, Allen, Gruden Take On ALS Ice Challenge

According to Keim, the Skins have renegotiated Bowen's deal (no details yet). But hopefully it means some money savings.

I am sure it will be a significant savings, Bowen's salary was $4.5 million .

Re: Set it all aside -- Training Camp Begins

I really thought they were gonna move on from Bowen with the big salary & the injury.

Hopefully, he can get healed and help the 'skins.

Maybe it's pre-season hype again, but I think this DL has more depth than we've seen in quite awhile.

I keep thinking we may have an edge in the 4Q now, having guys like Bowen or Jenkins or Murphy fresh & blowing past tired OL for a quick sack.

(at least it doesn't hurt to dream!)

The problem with cutting Bowen is all his bonus money counts towards the 2014 cap, if they lower his salary in 2014 to $1.0 million they save cap space, and money in the long run. Then cut him in 2015, and they will have $2.5 in dead cap space.

What about Jenkins? High draft pick, 3rd year, time for him to come on strong. He's supposedly have a strong camp.

It's a nice thought but when is the last time Bowen or Jenkins blew past an NFL OL for a sack? We still need better backups on the on the DL, IMO.

Cooley said he's smelled weed in the redskins hotels the night before games.

He said the number is very.... high.

He broke down the rules and it's basically like this:

There's a ~2 month period where they can test you during OTA's/training camp. You can only get tested once. The rest of the year you're safe until the next season. Unless they catch you - then you get tested on a regular basis for the rest of your career.

They're only trying to catch the stupid ones. They don't care if you smoke weed, they just want to weed out the knuckleheads.

It's amazing how many players aren't smart enough to just stop for the 2 months they could be tested... knowing they have 10 more months out of the year to partake if they please.

I realize I'm older then alot of the other members here but Matty makes a great point .Growing up my family was friends with a few players and their family's and we would go to dinner from time to time as families do ,they were young as were my parents ,pizza and a pitcher(or three) of beer was never blinked at by anyone even during the season .This didn't make them alcoholics or drunks just as a small amount of grass at home should not be a problem .(or brand them drug addicts)
