Don't want to come down ...

Okay, we have been on cloud 9 for 2 days now - most of us just witnessed if not the best win in Skins history, a top three one at worst! We just won our first one point game in 15 years and we just beat our most hated rivals in their house.

BUT

Could we be getting a little overwhelmed with all the emotion that this victory gave us? What I'm afraid of is another unrealistic view of the skins, much like what we had before Gibb's first game last year. This site had a ton 10-6 predictions - based purely on emotion.

I still see a team that is 28th in scoring, a team that has only scored two touchdowns in 2 games, and team that commits way to many penalties, and turnovers.

I also see a team that showed crazy guts and resolve, a team that would have NO DOUBT lost this game last year. Those two passes to Moss were gutsy calls, perfectly executed, and by no means a freaking miracle. We took that game away.

I'm just real confused, there is no doubt I am still glowing from our win, but I'm wondering now about Seattle and if we are as good as we think we are?

For the first 55 min of that game I thought the skins were done, season in jeopardy, and then 5 min later I'm thinking playoffs, is that crazy?

thoughts?

You will see a different team after this win. The boost that this win will provide will be unmeasurable in terms of intangibles.

Gibbs got a little carried away after the win by letting his emotion get the better of him, but by no means is he pleased with the way we played (save the big plays). He's back the next day to harping on correcting the mistakes we made.

I don't know about Brunell or Ramsey - it seems both can be successful with the right play-calling, but Brunell does seem to make fewer mistakes, have more elusiveness, and better downfield vision.

I think things will work themselves out. We are heading in the right direction, that's the main thing.

Mistakes are correctable and winning is contagious! This team is learning how to win, finally and more than anything else we can be encouraged by that!

Re: Don't want to come down ...

You read my mind. I find myself torn between a fan and an analyst. The fan in me is thinking wow we can do this to any team at any time. The analyst is saying if Dallas blitzes at the end we would have had no chance. On the plus I would have thought our defense played excellent even if we didnt connect on those touchdowns.

Seattle isn't a good road team, I think 3-0 is a real possibility.

Tough road trips after that in KC and Denver. We should have a much better idea of what kind of team we have after those games.

You are definately on your game

I agree with most, but I see a BIG corner turned. I see A serviceable QB, hopefully embarking on a renaissance in his career. I see recievers who understand, it is important to get the ball and actually score without having three attorneys and a contract renegotiation take place in the process. I see Joe bashers silenced (at least temporarily) with the clarity of his recent, and offseason decisions coming to fruition on Monday. I see the major components of a competative team in place. I see them coming together to overcome, at times, when they may not have the talent to do so. I see a framework in place which will have the skins winning for years to come!!!!!!!!!! Kumbaya my lord, Kumbaya...........I have a dream..................maybe next post

I agree. I think we will beat Seattle. Kansas City, from what I've seen so far is a better team than we are. Denver isnt as good as they have been, but they are at home. If we can start the season 4-1 I'd be absolutley estatic. Before the season I would have been happy with 3-2 too.

Re: Don't want to come down ...

I see a team that now believes that nothing is impossible.

They've bought into Coach Gibbs' scheme, albeit a conservative and low scoring one. In turn Coach Gibbs has put the rest of the league on notice that we can drop the big bomb and take a certain win away.

I love the look of our team now. The D crushes the life out of high scoring offenses and our offense CAN put up the points to win.

As a team, the skins got to believe they are never totally out of a game and I agree, other teams have to be on notice now, we can score, score quick, and when it counts! One time is a fluke, but twice is skill.

I just hope we can correct the pass protection that seemed horrible the first 95 percent of the game, and what gives with the false starts man?

Re: Don't want to come down ...

This Seattle game is another must win. They need to show themselves they REALLY have turned a corner. A little reinforcement of the positives they could take from the pokes game. Plus going 3-0 is huge. Lets you go 6-7 the rest of the year and have a good shot at the playoffs. I do think we are all a little too giddy about this but com'on it the pokes! They won in dramatic fashion and in a way nobody thought they could. I am real interested in this Seattle game to see if things are coming around like they seem they could.
