Re: 49ers Pregame Thread

The only reason I have any optimism right now is that it would be entirely consistent with my relationship with the Redskins for them to somehow pull of an inspiring win against the 49ers on the road and allow me to think, "hey, they're actually pretty good," only to then lay a turd in the Colts game and get blown out by 40 points.

Nah, even that isn't going to cause me to think we can win the game.

49ers -- 33
Skins -- 9

I hope I am wrong.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread

I'd just like to see RGIII play better, whatever else occurs. Sadly, that's not likely to happen here. Niners 28-Skins 3.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread

I think the 'skins could win this one ('Skins: 27, 49ers: 24)

I'd like to see a little more creativity from the offensive game plan though.

Here's what I'd be putting in for this week.........
1) Roll the pocket on pass plays (it worked for Theisman)
RG seems to play better while moving, so why fight it?

2) Flood one side of the field for pass plays (at least in the early going)
will help his vision by limiting the field

3) Fake rollout & run counters (and vice-versa)
it will slow down the rush on a true pass play

4) Once the Niner's figure out the rollout & start blitzing off the edges,
I'd start burning them with quick hitter slants (in & out)

I know the Niner D is athletic, but the 'Skins have some athletes too.
We just have to get them in space & let the win a few matchups.

Yeah, our fans say that, but how many times have we actually beat a team that's way better than us? One example I guess could be Dallas this year, but they're a division opponent and not that good anyway.

I'm not enough of a homer to think we win this one, but we probably keep it closer than some of the predictions on here. If Griffin plays better and the defense gets some pressure on Kaepernick and maybe even gets a <gasp> turnover... Redskins 17, 49ers 24.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread

Come on guys, I know Joe Montana is one of the best, but Richie Petitbon is one of the best at halftime adjustments, and I think the Redskins defense can keep Montana in check. Gotta get Charles Mann and Manley going early though. You know that Green is going to be on Rice like glue all day long!

Just hope Gibbs will continue to pound the rock with Riggins, because eventually, Theismann is going to have to find Alvin Garrett or Charlie Brown deep down field, but Riggins is going to have to keep the 49ers' defense honest.

Just wished this game was being played at RFK instead of Candlestick, but you gotta do what you gotta do! (Yes, I had 30 minutes of sleep last night!)

I hope we can shock the Niners but my gut says we go down 35-7

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread

How can anyone seriously pick the Redskins? We are going to get blown out, but here is the silver lining... I want us to get blown out so Jay has credible evidence and is building a case to convince Snyder that Haslett needs to be let go before next season and RGIII is not our future QB... That is assuming Snyder would listen and be swayed from his opinion, which perhaps is an incorrect assumption... If that's the case then it really doesn't matter at all until he sells the team, which will be never...

Happy times are ahead!!!

I wish, but Harbaugh (and his wife) want to stay further west from reports floating around.

On the topic of replacement coaches, I'd like a hard ass defense specialist to take the helm, and a legit offensive guru as OC to work the RG. Several in mind but it's pointless until we get through the season.

Jordan Reed out (again). Sheesh. Someone tell that guy to touch is frigging toes every once in a while. Knee injuries are one thing, but hammies ought to largely be preventable.

49ers will be missing RT Anthony Davis and Jonathan Martin starting in his place.
