Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk won't walk, Bruce will let him go as I've said for 2 years now.. He doesn't want Kirk and if he did this shit wouldn't the way it is today. They don't see KC as an Elite QB IMO and eventually we'll be past this drama and on to some other QB next yr.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
The road to the Super Bowl is structured in a way that when you get to the playoffs, each person on your team has to go out and deliver their best game ever. Each player has to rise to the occasion for those games. So not only does each player have to plow through and perform through an entire season they also have to have the qualities that enable them to give their best in the playoffs. Gibbs one and even Gibbs two (in a slightly lesser degree) was able to bring that out in all of his players. He is an extraordinary individual and a great coach.
With Kirk we've seen that he is capable of plowing through the season and giving a good performance, however when it comes to the games where you have to rise to the occasion and perform extra-ordinary so far he has not delivered. The two end year Giant games and the Green Bay playoff game are proof of that. We can kind of give him a pass for the Breen Bay game because it was his first one, but he gets no pass for both Giant games. Cousin's needs to show us that he possesses that extra-ordinary quality. So far he has not. That being said, if you wrapped a bunch of players around Cousin's that are talented and have that extra-ordinary quality, then we could win a Super Bowl with Cousins. However, if you have a QB that does possess that extra-ordinary quality, where they perform at their best in the playoffs, they can overcome other deficiencies on the team. So I'm not saying anything that has not been said before. I just wanted to point out that because of the way the NFL works, it's not enough to create great stats. during the year. Your team has to possess that extra-ordinary quality to get to the Super Bowl. |

Kevin O’Connell promoted to OC, turns down Chip Kelly.

Jay Gruden: Kirk Cousins is a very good QB, but we’re 7-9 – ProFootballTalk
welcome to another offseason of this

“When you’re 7-9, you know it’s hard to say, ‘Wow, this guy really was outstanding,’” Gruden said. “Kirk had his flashes where he was really good. From a consistent standpoint, over the course of 16 games, you know, we’re 7-9. He did some great things, threw for over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns. So I think he’s a very, very good quarterback without a doubt, but as far as getting us over the hump from 7-9 to winning a division with all the injuries that we had, I think he competed and did some good things.” Yeah he's done in DC.

Nothing Gruden said was incorrect. Cousins was overall good this year. But that Giants game on Sunday was terrible. Any honest, comprehensive assessment of his year has to mention that. He had ups, he had downs. He was not great. He was good. Gruden's right on the mark and if Cousins can't handle that then don't let the door hit ya. But he can handle it. And he'd probably tell you the same thing.

He's right to a point, but the "we're 7-9" quote is weak IMO... So you are basically saying the QB is the main reason for 7-9, when the whole team was injured and the guy had nobody to throw too... If I'm KC I'd want out, all of the reports over the years of him not feeling wanted appear to be true now. Maybe Jay and Bruce both want a new QB next yr.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I honestly hope Cousins is resigned here to a long term deal...not on the tag...but I do not think this is going to happen. Watching that Oklahoma/Georgia game last night, all I could see was Snyder salivating over Baker Mayfield...he just seems to love that type of cocky flashy player that he is, and I would think there's a good chance he'll be available when the Redskins pick and Snyder would insist on drafting him.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I did watch the video. He wasn't saying that.
He said Kirk is a very very good quarterback. Passed for 4000 yards and 29 TDs, so he's done some very good things. But he mentioned consistency and facing some adversity. Basically 100% right on, accurate, and honest while being careful to make just enough excuses (injuries around him) to avoid appearing like he was killing Cousins in the media.
