Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Even if the Redskins have to trade up to get a QB they should do it....I said the other day that they should take Tyree Jackson....maybe they should draft Will Grier...Colt McCoy wants to be a starter....but the problem with #12 is his inconsistencies....depending on how Colt plays these next 5 games will reveal if he's truly the starter he think he is....if he plays inconsistent like he played at Dallas even if he has a few good games these next few weeks the front office would be very wise to draft a QB...given the 8-10 month timetable that it will take for Alex Smith to return...if Smith returns...

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Just how the cap works, plus he had injury guarantees in the contract

I believe as long as Alex is on the roster for 5 days in 2019 the cap hit isn't onerous. We will have 1/3 paid this year, and then about 24M the next two year assuming we get a rookie, and Colt doesn't screw us by voiding his contract and forcing a starters deal (and if Thursday's game is any indication he won't have a leg to stand on for that - yes bad pun suck it up cupcakes). Right now we are at 21Million free cap next year, so it will feel like the years of the cap penalty, but it is in fact what it is, and it's not going to change so the team just has to reset and push forward. |

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
So IF AS cannot play, this draft is not exactly what we would call 'quarterback rich'. But there is talent to be found in every position, in every draft. Just have to know where to scratch.
This is a reach, but I believe with the emergence of Lamar Jackson that Joe Flacco is being shown the door, or at least handed his hat. He could be a good bridge/vet backup to a team looking for just such a role. |

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Just sucks if we get screwed out of this deal due to a shattered leg.. I know its part of the business but still. As for Lamar , he's not a passer and we all know what that is like (RG3) So its only a matter of time until he gets injured running as well. Not wishing that on him but lets be serious here. I'd take Flacco for a couple years but he wont be cheap enough for that. Colt Mccoy is not a starting QB and he will be the biggest reason we don't make the playoffs. Everyone keeps saying we have an easy schedule... When u dont have a QB nothing is easy.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Really don't want to see Joe Flac-go-eat-a-bowl-of-dicks as QB for the Skins. I think there a couple solid QBs in the draft in the mid rounds who could get reps as behind Colt and then take over.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Flacco is not that bad but again he would still cost too much for what we would need him for.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
I still don't understand why Colt didn't have anytime to practice with his WR's. I understand the short week but you would think they could get in a few hours with the starters.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
I'm still hopeful Colt can shake off the rust, still, he needs help. We're not going anywhere unless the running game gets cranking again and the D tightens up. I'm worried that AP has hit the wall.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
A legit concern. I worried last week that the paths he was taking on his runs were determined by whether he wanted to avoid getting hit on his injured shoulder. We all know he's playing banged up.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Speaking of AD
Since his great game against NY he has had 56 Carries for 171 yards.... That is terrible

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
No Paul Richardson and no Brandon Scherff during that time.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Yep, although the line hasn't been terrible, losing BS was a huge blow in the run game.

Re: Alex Effect - 2019 Draft
Scherff was definitely a huge loss
