Att: Richmond, Va. Redskins Fans
Yesterday in Richmond, Va. the giants/ vikings game ran late and the local fox t.v. affiliate carried it to its conclusion. So one would naturally turn to the radio for Sonny, Sam , and
larry. Well the local radio affiliate , WRNL Sports 910 ran the dag gum pats/dolphins game instead!!! And then to add insult to injury ran the postgame too. We missed nearly the entire first quater!!! I called the GM of the radio station and he was defiant and belligerent to me about not carrying the Redskins. This is a station that has a contract to run the Redskins games, whereas the pats/fins game was just the Westwood One feed. I need your help fellas. Please call Tom Parker at WRNL 910 and give him some grief for this decision to screw Richmond out of it's only game feed for a whole quarter. CALL HIM AT 804-474-0000 AND ASK FOR TOM PARKER. This could easily happen again when we go on the road for the 4pm rams, cardinals, and philthy games. Also please call Leon Duncan (703-726-7000), who is with the Washington Redskins front office and is in charge of the radio broadcasts. He is a nice guy, let him know how you feel about this. I would love to get The Sny and his corpoprate muscle involved in this situation. Afterall WRNL 910 has a contract to carry all the games in this very Redskins friendly market. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT OUT OF YOUR DAY AND CALL THESE GUYS, PARKER SPIT ON ALL REDSKINS FANS EVERYWHERE. LET HIM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. Thank you , Todd Ranson |

Yeah, I am a local Richmond/Chesterfield Guy and you talking about pissed i was running around the house screaming and it would have put me over the edge if those asses would have went to overtime and carried the game through what could have been the first half. I did not go to the radio to see if it was on i was jus tthinking any minute now they have got to switch this. How many people in this area really care that the Giants are letting the vikings kick their ass and now it is a tight game. Put the damn skins game on!!!!

Re: Att: Richmond, Va. Redskins Fans
You have to be aware that the station in question also has a contract with Westwood One to carry its feed for games, right? The station must have such a deal in place, or they would not be airing that game.
So, what you need to find out before calling a bunch of folks and yelling about something that is defined by the contracts in place is this - - which contract has primacy? If the Westwood contract has primacy, then this is probably going to happen to you again later this year if the Skins play a 4:00 PM game. Maybe a little yoga-style meditation can ease that pain. Or you can offer sacrifices to the football gods seeking an early end to whatever game Westwood One is carrying that day in the "early slot". If the Skins' contract has primacy, then there is something the Skins' FO can do about it. Otherwise, they'll just have to deal with the way their affiliate has done their contracts to air NFL football and MAYBE change their affiliation in the Richmond area next year. Oh, don't count on that change happening if that station makes the highest bid to carry the Skins' games. The revenue stream is THE most important part of the station selection process; everything else is second.

I can understand why Fox aired the entire Giants game, but you would think that the Skins game would have been on the radio. If you have a good AM radio you may be able to pick up AM790 in tidewater. They air Sony's entire show one hour pregame and I think to hours of post game when they do interviews and have callers. Good Luck.
