Re: Ryan Clark
Maybe we think of Clark as a tweener CB/Saftey? Maybe he is our 3rd CB option.

I'm sure GW has evaluated his man/man cover skills enough to know if he's up to it |

Re: Ryan Clark
I would love to have Clark back at the right price and in the right place. BUT - He seems to want to be a starter and feels he earned some love from the team. B/c he worked hard and really bought into the team concept, I can see how he may feel betrayed.
But, just b/c I think I understand his feelings of betrayal, doesn't mean I agree with them. The term "core Redskins" apparently gets thrown around a lot by Gibbs. He probably uses it to talk about putting team first, etc. Fair enough. What I bet is included in the description but what Clark and some others may not hear is that the Skins will always try to improve themselves and that, when a player who can help comes along, we will make the effort to get him. In those cases, we won't throw "core 'Skins" to the curb BUT we aren't going to pass up the opportunity to improve and, even for "core Skins", we are not going to pay you more than we believe your worth. We will make a fair offer (a la' Smoot, Pierce) - but we have a plan. We would like to include you in it but not necessarily at the price your asking. I doubt Clark can get big bucks from anyone, maybe moderate ones along with a starter's role somewhere. If so, then he has his own choices to make. I like him, I hope he stays, but he is not someone for whom we should break the bank. Bottom line, he is probably overvaluing himself as a player and as a component on the Skins. |

Re: Ryan Clark
Yeah, I like Clark a lot, but I don't see him as a "core Redskin."

Re: Ryan Clark
I really like Ryan Clark too. I honestly don't know how much of an upgrade Archuleta is over him, however, I'm willing to wait and see what Williams does with Archuleta. I personally hope that if Ryan Clark can't start here he goes and finds a team where he can be the starter. I think going to Pitt would be great for him.

Re: Ryan Clark
I think Clark is probably better in coverage than Arch, but he's not as good against the run (anyone remember how LT just plowed over him). Arch is bigger, stronger, and also a better blitzer.
I wish we could keep Clark for depth though. I'd feel much more comfortable having him here if ST goes to prison. |

This is the quote from Gibbs. "I told them that with the core group that we have here, our goal now would be to try to keep everybody together. That is my job and I started early this morning." I think maybe the writer came up with the core of 15 and not Gibbs. If you think about it why would a coach name out 15 players making the others feel like outsiders who could be gone at anytime. JERMUS22 don't give in until you read it for yourself. |
