Times Dispatch - Paul Woody
TimesDispatch.com | Gibbs says Skins need to take break
The way Joe Gibbs sees it, the thing the Washington Redskins need more than anything, aside from winning a football game, is getting away from the game of football. The Redskins (2-5) have a bye this week. Gibbs, the Redskins' coach, wants to use part of this time to address some of his team's shortcomings. Then, he wants the players to take some time off. The Redskins will practice today and tomorrow. Then, they will not be required to return to Redskin Park until Monday. Before they go, though, Gibbs wants to go over a few details concerning offense and defense. Today's practice will be spent working on the passing game, how to make it better on offense and how to stop it on defense. Tomorrow, the same approach will be taken toward the running game. I've been watching them this season and I think they've already spent enough time away from what I'd call Football. |

Re: Times Dispatch - Paul Woody
This is bullsh*t! the team sucks and cant properly execute plays so lets give them more time away from practice. That makes a whole f*ing lot of sense. Ohh I have a great idea, lets leave in the crappy QB who cant throw it over 5yds, the cowboys wont use the same defensive scheme that everyother team has done to stop us... will they?

When things are going as bad as they are, sometimes you just need to get away and remove yourself from the situation, come back fresh and ready to start over. I think it's a good call to let the players get away.

When things aren't going well, sometimes it's best to just step away for a little bit. Then come back and attack the problem revitalized and with a fresh approach.

Be nice to see the players say "Thanks, but we need to work harder at the problem" and come to work anyway for 'Player Only' practice even if it's just getting in the playbook.
