Relationship Between Coaches

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but if I am, I'm just gonna wack it a few more times for good measure. I think it's kinda obvious that a lot of the failures of this past season can be blaimed on the coaching staff. I want to know, if you were Joe Gibbs, what would you tell Saunders and Williams in the offseason about how next year is going to be approached. What changes would you tell them they have to make? Would you now make it clear that this is MY team, and we're going to start doing things MY way? Or would you give them another chance to see if what they've done in the past may work again? Would you, or could you tell Williams that he needs to change his attitude? Al Saunders likes to score fast, you like to score slowly and control the ball, Williams doesn't like scoring fast because it makes his defense tired. Bottom line, how are you going to get all three of you to be on the same page?

Uh, what Gibbs and Saunders do is irrelivant if Willams can't return the D to decent status.

I think we put way too much into Gibbs and Saunders' relationship. You have two guys who like each other, and respect each others coaching styles. If we run Gibbs' system, it will work. If we run Saunders' system, it will work. If we run a hybrid of the two, something we may need to do, it will most likely work. Instability might have cost us our edge in 2006, but no more so than some inconsistent blocking plus some untimely drops. Looking to 2007, we really can't go wrong with our scheme, and have very few holes.

The defense is the much bigger issue. Gregg Williams admittedly doesn't know what went horribly wrong yet. Quite simply (IMO), his lack of talent on the defensive side finally caught up with him. The main culprit for this demise is the defensive line, but the best option for 2007 is to go out and sign help in the back 7, let Grilliams get back to using the schemes that worked well in 2004-2005, and use the draft to rebuild the real problem area, the defensive line.

The first thing I would do is tell Greg Williams to FIRE STEVE JACKSON and than make Jerry Gray coach of the entire secondary. That way we can eliminate what the mole was referring to that the secondary does not practice together and therefore not on the same page.

You know what I can't understand about that is that all three worked together in Buffalo, so why is there a problem now?

Although I think Williams had some to do with how our defense has regressed, but I can't understand why people fail to put some of the blame on the players. Isn't the responsibility of the players to know the basics before they even step onto an NFL field? Why should the NFL coaches spend so much time teaching the players the basics when really, that is what high school and college is for. The NFL coaches should spend most of their time on strategy.

Totally agree. Someone needs to grab these reigns and take control. Don't know who thought this concept of numerous head coaches would be work but it's not! A meeting of the minds is deff in order here. Gibbs just needs to sit down, watch film, take notes, organize a speech and let these guys know this is the year.
A G.M. is the answer(IMO), but let Joe coach ONE more time. I think G.W. needs to get over himself and his system. Just let his talent play their strengths like 04. Too many Off Coordinators watch WAY too much film. Just like Buddy Ryans 47 D. 1 Offseason and they had it figured out.
Back to the basics plz....we may just have an offense next year. You dont need to get crazy Williams
