Re: Giants Trade for Droughns

Droughns is a very ho-hum, 3 yards and a cloud of dust kind of RB. I'd much rather face him twice a year vs. Tiki.

I'm still surprised they didn't get Rhodes, that would have been a good combo, Rhodes and Jacobs.

Something tells me that the Giants aren't done with their running back situation -- even with this signing.

If they are, then I feel a lot better about facing Droughns twice a year rather than McGahee.

Re: Giants Trade for Droughns

Droughns is no Tiki but he is a good RB who played on an awful team. He is good for at least 800 yards and if he is the primary RB he'll hit the 1000 mark.

Re: Giants Trade for Droughns

On the Denver RB spectrum, Droughns represents the middle ground between dominant backs like Terrell Davis, Portis, or Mike Anderson, and the crappy, replacement level backs like Quentin Griffin, Olandis Gary, and Tatum Bell.

If your team is starting Droughns, you should probably try to improve your situation, but things could be much much worse.

Never thought I would see Mike Anderson mentioned in the same breath as Davis and Portis!

Why not? Just another Denver back who averaged 5.0 yds per carry and just under 1500 yds in a season.

The only thing bad about this is that it means Cleveland is probaly going to take Peterson instead of him slipping to 6 and giving our pick more trade value. If Quinn doesnt slip im not sure the FO is gonna get as much as they would like for the #6 pick.

Look at the numbers. Denver's running game was way more effective when led by Anderson then when its been led by Gary, or Droughns, or Tatum Bell.

Why would Clev take Peterson when they just signed Lewis? I think they are going to take Quinn.

Lewis is on a one year deal. I'm not a huge Peterson fan, but you have to think he gives them a better chance to win than Jamal Lewis.

To clarify, I think passing on Quinn would be a mistake with that QB situation. But I do think that team (because they are the Browns) is still leaning towards Peterson.

Re: Giants Trade for Droughns

I would be very surprised if they dont take Peterson. Not only did jamal get a one year deal but I dont think he is gonna be able to carry the load by himself and there's really no RB's left in free agency that are worth a shit.
