We simply don't have the money. We're tied to Wade at this point.

I think he's better than Wade though.

If he'd do a one year deal with the cap space we have remaining, I'd consider it.

No way we should sign Rivera. He had back and neck problems in Green Bay, that's why they released him. Ditto the Cowboys.

Yeah injures have pretty much ravaged him these last few years. I say no.

This might not be the thread to talk about this, but I'll bring it up anyway.

I'll bet the Cowboys enter the season as the early favorites to win our division.

I was just being sarcastic Quake, knowing that was going to be the next question.

Someone will pick him up, if he doesn't retire. He a vet that's been around the league, he's running out of time if he hasen't already.

We don't need his services at Guard, and if he plays he'll be looking to knock down some cash. We don't have cash to waste.

I dont know about his services - but i think not having a solid guard to replace doc is gonna hurt us. He might be worth a look if hes cheep enough.

Foxsports.com just released the first preseason power ranking with the Skins at #25 rankings. The Eagles seem to be this writer's pick with the Boys second. He sees us as a 9 win team at best.

Re: Rivera cut by Cowboys

I'd pick him up if he was due to be 100% by camp and signed somewhere close to the league min. I mean, he did start 16 games last year, is a good player and with his injury history he can't expect a big money contract.

Or how about signing him for depth, let him ride pine and get healthy and we would have a high quality vet coming into the game if there is an injury. It all depends on how much he is asking. The fact that he offered to tear up his contract and pay his bonus back to the Cowboys after his first injury tells me that it isn't all about the money with him.

They had some interesting comments about us though:

25. Washington Redskins — I actually like the Redskins as a sleeper pick in the NFC this season. Sure, Clinton Portis needs to stop discussing dog fights with the media, and yes, the Redskins only had one pick the entire first day of the NFL Draft. But on the field, the Portis/Ladell Betts duo could very well form the best 1-2 rushing combo in the entire league. Al Saunders threw a lot at the Redskins in his first year as offensive coordinator, with a playbook rumored to be the size of a phone directory. Year 2 could be the breakout season where it all comes together. Then again, even if Jason Campbell develops into a star, Santana Moss returns to his 2005 form, and the rushing attack tears up the league — that defense is still a mess. Washington did bring in London Fletcher-Baker and LaRon Landry — two immediate starters — but failed to address a porous (that's generous) defensive line. That'll once again be the team's undoing. This is an 8- or 9-win team at best.

I love it! just like 05, we come in as a "sleeper" or a 3rd or 4th place team in our division.

Maybe its the usual spring/summer optimisim coming on, but I'm becoming more comofortable w/our d-line staying as is. I think Gibbs & GW are banking on a revamped secondary & London to change things, and are comfortable w/the known quantity they have in our d-line. Who knows, we might get a big year from AC now that we have a solid db depth.

I don't know about M. Rivera, what would the vet. min. cost?
