We're playing a low contact scrimmage, on one of the Ravens big plays we had a sack, but you cant touch the QB.

The announcers were absolutely terrible. It was typical Ravens we are so great attitude.
i totally agree, it was hard to watch. every interview was with a raven and those announcers were drooling all over the ravens players. as far as the 11 on 11 goes, the skins only had one (1) projected starter in the lineup and that was left guard, todd wade. on defense, the skins had three (3) projected starters, taylor, fletcher and rocky. landry did play but i'm not sure if he's considered a starter yet.

its funny becuase the anouncers were like, the ravens are moving the ball fairly well against a redskin defense that is almost all first string, nothing like having to listen to a bias sports review against your own team.

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

The channel I watched it on was called MASN for Mid Atlantic Sports Network. They cover lots of Skins' and Ravens, Nationals and whatever the F the Maryland team is. Like it has been stated before, it was tough to watch or even to determine WHAT you were watching. Smoot's pick was a welcome sign but, McNair kinda threw it right to him. Defense DEFINTELY needs to stop letting teams move the ball in 20-40 increments like they did ALL last year. Repeatedly I saw blown coverages, bad man-to-man cover and overall got the sense that behind our D-Line, our secondary is still in last years mentality of letting teams move the ball how and where they please at will. ST looked good, got a little testy. It was nice touch for all the Raven wiener-blowing that the commentators were doing. There was another call too for a guy touching the WR to down him after he made a catch, and he kinda pushed him. I dont know. You had to see it. It was on the fence on wether to throw a flag. Just tweaked my interest a bit.

Brunell blows. Collins is the worst QB in the history of the league.

---Note to self:
Kill Todd Collins

Cooley looked good, as always and I'm pretty sure I saw Moss catch one ball. ARE returned 2 punts in the beginning adn looked solid.

Overall, it was ok. I just cant wait till the season opens.

Hail!

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

Here is my take on the scrimmage: When it counted on the 11 on 11 we didn't look very good. On offense, we looked okay but, I expected to see a team that had something to prove from last years piss poor excuse for a football team. Yeah, we didn't have alot of starters on the both sides of the ball, but so did the ravens. This team still displayed no sense of urgency at all to try to impress the coaches or us fans for that matter. I must be honest, but our back-up quarterback situation scares the piss out of me. Our offense was "reset" at the 35 yard line several times because of the numerous 3 and outs. That was not good, and totally unacceptable. All in all, the offense looked the same as last year (that too is unacceptable). The defense looked good against the run, and when 3 down came calling, they could not stop the mighty ravens from moving the chains. The pass coverage simply sucked! Just like last year! We did have our starters back there and they could not stop their receivers from moving the chains. I think the ravens had two chances on offense, and they moved the ball (in the air) at will on us, and where able to get two scores on our allegedly improved secondary. What, are you kidding me?!?! I expected to see our D with this supposeded "chip" on it's shoulder. And again I was disappointed. To me, very few guys stood out, and were trying to make a positive impression. Next week I will expect to see more "fire and intensity" in our players. But, if it is the same CRAP that I saw yesterday, I will be thinkig twice if I actually invest my time and watch these games live. Pretty much most of last year I listened to the games on a Walkman, and I went through two of those when I would throw them across the yard and break them all up. Yes, I know I have some anger issues, and last year tested those issues to the extreme. Oh yeah, the pass rush also sucked, just like last year. But, anyway let's hope for a good year guys.

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

I was disappointed that Cambell didn't get in on the 11 on 11 drills, but as he said afterward, you'll see lots of him in preseason. But his passes were pretty crisp during the 7 on 7 drills.

The kid Palmer is going to be hard to cut. God I hope we can keep him on the roster somehow. I really don't see the need to keep both Collins and Brunell.

On defense, Taylor was his usual nasty self. I also saw him and Landry communicate a couple times, which was good. I really get the sense Taylor is going to be more of leader on the field this year. It was either Blades or London Fletcher that knocked Boller on his ass, which was funny.

All in all, it was what it was. Not too much you could take from it honestly. But everyone was right about the announcers and the Ravens lovefest. I got sick of it. I mean we're in the middle of running a play, and they're interviewing Terrell Suggs' ugly ass! Unbelievable!

i agree 4mrusmc no pass rush as usual. I love the first pass i saw on 7 on 7 from brunell a drop off to the RB classic. Glad to see him in midseason form.

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

Let me say this too, for those of you who didn't see the scrimage, there's absoultely nothing, nothing to panic about. The Redskins didn't suck anymore if you were at training camp and you saw a guy drop a pass or didn't get to the quarterback.

You'll have some that want to see helmets flying and guys limping off the field to determine if the Redskins are ready - not!! It was simply a scrimmage, and that's all. I thought there was a reasonable amount of intensity on both sides of the ball to be pleased. As someone said, this is the dress rehearsal before the dress rehearsal.

The one guy that stuck out to me, if any, was Jordan Palmer. I'd really hate to see another team end up with him, seeing that both Collins' and Brunell's time is getting short here.

I'm with you. I mean there is no reason to have him on the roster next year.

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

we have to move on. we're giving away a roster spot by keeping him here. We can teach Palmer to throw the ball to the sideline or dump it off all the time if we have too.

I say keep him around for this year to help Campbell's development, then he needs to retire...

on defense.....daniels,griffin,carter,springs,smoot,r ogers and washington did not play during the 11 on 11 drills. plus they used landry at safety, he's still learning.

i'm not making excuses but thats 7 starters missing.not counting safety.

I agree.

It is funny though to see some of the crazy reactions after a scrimmage, which isn't much more than an organized practice between two teams.

Re: Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

true matty but if the skins look great or very good you guys would be saying man were back. going to the superbowl. Cant have it both ways. Alot of us were disappointed in their performance. The Ravens didnt have many starters in either and they looked alot better. Especially the ot they got in the supplemental draft. Wish we would have taken a chance on him.
