Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
He didn't score, but he was a good player. He always hurt us, even without the refs help!

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
LOL...100% agree, he didn't score at all. I am actually surprised he didn't retire a couple years ago after the neck issues. I think he wanted to prove he could still do it, and he did. He has a ring, so what else is there left for him? He made a good name for himself as a human wrecking ball, and now someone else can go to the pro bowl instead of him being an automatic pick (justified or not).

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
I think a lot of us thought about that stupid when we saw his name. I agree as well, he didn't score. That said, he was a very good back, and we couldn't stop him lol. Therefore I am glad to see him retire, because now he can't hurt us when we play the Bucs this year. I'm sure if he had played when we played the Bucs, he would've been inserted on all the short yardage situations.

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
No I did not. I heard this in the news so I looked it up and started a thread after checking to make sure that no one had started an Alstott thread. I did not know that it was hidden deap in another thread wich must have strayed from topic.LOL

Plus, "technically" he didn't retire. He was placed on Injured Reserve

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
I always thought he was way overrated. A product of the Madden hype machine. Seriosuly he was at no point the best fullback in football. he was just the most popular.

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
SI.com - NFL - Alstott goes on IR with neck injury that could end career - Thursday August 9, 2007 3:11PM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday placed the six-time Pro Bowl fullback on injured reserve with a neck problem that Alstott said was not related to a career-threatening injury that required surgery in 2003. "It is what it is. The facts are the facts," the 33-year-old said during an emotional press conference at the team's headquarters. "I can't put on the helmet and jersey this year." But Alstott, arguably the most popular player in team history, couldn't bring himself to say that he may have played his last game. He shrugged off several retirement-related questions, saying that's something that will be answered in time. |

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
Good player for the BUCS when healthy. His career is over, regardless if he made the formal announcement or not.

Re: Mike Alstott To Announce His Retirement
He's an idiot if he returns...would he rather be paralyzed or be able to bounce his grandkids on his knee?
